Twisting your ankle in your ski boot

On Thursday, I managed to twist my ankle when I decked out on a jump at Keystone. My friend told me it looked like my outside edge on my right ski caught when I hit the knuckle. Anyway, both skis popped off (my knees say thankyou) but I felt my ankle twisting. How the heck does this happen in a ski boot?

tptaly possible, I have severly sprained my ankle that made it hurt for month's, my boots were to big, but still the boot does not actualy keep your ankle from rotaing in multiple directions, everytime you cross your skis you are rotating your ankles to the inside.

easily is how it happens, usually because your boots are either too big, not done up enough, or something along those lines. Or, you twisted hard enough that you got fucked. Better your ankle than your knee, and I don't feel bad for you anyways.

bingo. ive done it plenty of times. it sucks. while too loose a boot will increase the risk, its possible to do in race-fit boots. you can still over rotate your ankle.

My boots are not too big. I see what you guys are saying about how your ankle can still turn. It's just weird.

if you had them buckled differently than you normally do, or if it was a warm day (boots expand) they could've just had enough twisting room where your ankle was. and since your edges caught when you landed and you released from your bindings it's entirely plausible that your ankle (as well as your knee) twisted as your body rotated.

maybe it was your boot that got "twisted" so that made your ankle get twisted, i can't see twisting your ankle inside your boot without your boot doing anything
if that made any sense...

what does being able to read minds have to do with your ankles moving around inside the boot ?

if you can break your ankles in boots then you can definitely sprain or twist your ankle.

i have done it twice, once to each of my ankles. i am pretty sure its because the leg bones actually pull slightly away from the foot, stretching the hell out of the ligaments.
