ok so at the top of my boot infront of my shins there is a gap big enough for my finger with my boots tightened as far as they go and with thick socks, now it hurts like hell to try to butter because of this is there any suggestions as to what i should do to stop this and no i cant afford new boots as much as i think this would solve the problem they are 26.5 salomon 1080 foils from last year the green ones
it would have to be a soft sponge. not like the ones to wash dishes. but go to your pro shop, they have special pads that they can grind down to fit your shin. to get more space filled and some padding
ahhh i think everyone goes through this at some point, i tried alot .. not much worked. then i got new boots, do them up tight.. and ive been fine all year so far.
my notes:
tried everything. only thing that has ever worked...
laying down lots of money for custom fitted boots.
biggest surprise of custom boot fitting process was that I wear a size 11 or 11.5 shoe, but i was fitted into a size 9.5 boot shell (with custom non-stock liner).
the part around your high ankle is the most important, even though the pain seems to come from higher on your shin. Try to buckle that 3rd buckle up from toe soooooooper tight. Good luck, it's terrible. I'm an expert snowboarder because of my battles with it.
yeah dude all the sponge options and stuff are just temporary fixes. what you really need is a smaller boot that really fits tight. i wear an 8.5 shoe but a size 5 boot. takes awhile to get used to, but you get a lot more control and never any shinbang.
allright but im a 10 shoe and a 26.5 boot the rest fits perfectly exept my shins, so you guys are saying temporarily put like a sponge there and soon get custom fit liners and like booster straps?
LISTen to me, i hate shin bang, so this is what i did. I whent to surefoot, and had them put extra foam in, but also, have them put pads down the sides of your shins, where there is muscle, this way, your bone doesnt take as much damage.
try snowboarding!! the boots dont go up as high. hhaha thats what i do when my shin bang gets bad, but i think im going to have to try that custom foam. so you just bring it to a boot shop and do they sew it onto the existing tongue or do they put a new tongue in or put the new foam inside the tongue. im confused how it works but if its a decent price, i would be willing to do that for a pain free season. i bought new boots and they are a lot tihgter than last years, but there tight from front to back but loose at the top. they are the dalbello kryptons. the padding on the lower part of the tongue is great but i cant quite aleviate the shinbang
ok i used to snowboard but now i ski, rails and shit are much more fun on skis, and yea im going to a bootfitter soon i just have to pick up my new car and then i can drive to one
I also plunked down the coin 4 years ago for the surefoot foam injected liners and haven't had shin bang since. the liners still fit as snug as the first day after about 200 days.
no amount of booze/pain pills or the likes will cure shin bang. it blows.
i LOVE shin bang!!! it makes me ski so much better being in constant pain. haha but seriously i bought that E-liminator for my boots and helped a tiny tiny tiny bit, but there is nothing that can prevent it. its caused by landing backseat....
its a lil more than back seat i have so much space that when ido nose butters my shins feel like they are gonna snap i want to go down a size but i cant afford it so im going to the fitters soon
landing switch with shinbang deff hurts just as bad... and landing backseat does make it worse but that not the only thing causing it... its simply just the repetitive impact...
