Replying to Mini-reviews: B4s, Prophet 90s, and Dynastar Big Troubles
The local shop did a demo day on Saturday. Unfortunately, the snow was total shit. Everything had melted and then re-froze several times, so the only skiable terrain was groomed, and even that was boilerplate. So take these reviews with a HUGE grain of salt.
Rossi B-Squads (B4s): I tried the 184. This is a sweet bomber ski. It's super stable at high speeds although not super turny. I'd love to have the 194 in my quiver--it's be my mach-10, deep-snow bomber.
Prophet 90s: I tried the 172, which, granted, was way too short for me (6'1" 185 lbs). But this ski is a lot of fun. Easy to butter, light, fairly stable at high speeds, and very nimble. It held an edge against the ice very well. I own the 186cm Prophet 100, and it's perfect for AK. But if I lived in the East and was looking for an all-mountain twin, this ski would be up there.
Big Trouble: I think the length was around 178cm. These skis sucked. They are super heavy (much heavier than my Prophet 100s or the B-Squads), don't butter all that well, and aren't very turny. Also, they aren't that wide, so I don't think they'd really excell in pow.
