So yesterday, at keystone, i was shredding. And whaddayaknow! Cr was there, and on 4Frnts. No joke, ask cody ling, i was shredding with him, and we were witnesses.
lol shit man, i got owned..:( That last sentence is sig material, i might have to use that...hahaha
Anyways, I could get into a big post about how I feel about corporations, but im not going to, perhaps in another thread.
But props to CR if this is true. Would be a good move in my opinion if that means anything.
actually that's false, salomon kept him on the team. if he switched companies, it was within the past couple months because he was skiing salomons early season, and there was also that big add in freeskier that said WELCOME BACK CR.
"
Not yet offically, but I am talking with Joe
and Matt. They are out of the country right now, but get back in a week
or so. I will come to some agreement with them, but just havn't yet.
But thank you for the congrats.
CR"
so unless he has secret spys working for him...its true and deffinatly the sickest thing ever
CR's been skiing the new VCT 189s (sweet ski, 108 under foot, very little camber), and said he loves 'em. Word from both camps is he's hasn't officially signed, but he loves the skis, which is a huge motivation for him.
The corporate culture is causing this country and it's economy some serious problems. We give corporations the rights of individuals, but then shield them from responsibilities. Corporations and the way they are handled needs to be seriously examined in this country. Just because people buy products from corporations does not make them a hypocrite. It is extremely difficult to exist in this country without doing so. Criticizing corporations but then working for one which exhibits the behavior you criticize, that DOES make for a hypocrite. Buying stock in such a company and enjoying the profits while saying that what the company does is wrong, that would make one a hypocrite. It is not easy to buy food, or clothing, or automobiles from companies which are not corporations, in fact it is practically impossible. Doing so does not make someone a hypocrite.
Many of the people on this website are very young, as they get older they will have to make some choices. It's alot easier to criticize corporations when you are young. When you finish college and a corporation offers you a job, one you need to survive, it's pretty hard to go and say "I will never work for a corporation." Saying "I would prefer to buy from 4FRNT over Salomon or K2 because they are a small company that is rider owned" but then buying Tropicana at the supermarket IS NOT HYPOCRITICAL. It is exercising one's right to choose. Some people are very interested in skiing, and would like to see ski culture go back to small, rider owned companies. They can do this by purchasing from such companies. The same person who cares alot about skiing may not care so much about orange juice. They may buy from Tropicana because it's not worth their time and energy to search out a small company. It may not be important to them to see the orange juice industry experience the changes that would result from small scale ownership. That does not make them a hypocrite.
Many of the kids on this site should understand that without the dollars from large companies the USOpen, XGames, and other events would not exist, and young pros would not be making six figures. The people on this site are not backcountry hippies for the most part. If you want to make money off of skiing or do something in the industry that probably means working for a corporation. If you want to be a bling-bling ski star with an escalade that requires corporate money.
By the way, 4FRNT is also a corporation, so I guess that kid said fuck you to 4FRNT too.
so back in the day of my amsterdam doorman days and whistler summer camps, Sterbenz came to me with an idea (he was still with fisher) about starting a rider owned ski company. He didnt have a name quite yet, and someone standing next to me gave him the idea for 4FRNT. Matt liked it.
Pop Quiz:
Who was that guy that came up with the name...
For what its worth, i knew matt was going to take over the buisiness. He had some talent on his original team, now hes got big budget riders that are sick of the corporate BS that is usually associated with their contracts. Good on ya boyz. Taking back the industry one rider at a time.
your an idiot, when skiing professionaly is your job and you get injured you still have to pay for shit, and for that month er whaever he was out, he couldnt do anything, so in some scenerios its all about the money
ya cr is rockin next years TNK's black n gold, there sick skis
haha thats a huge move. Should give 4frnt major publicity. I heard 4frnt was goin down the tubes earlier this year but i guess not. They seem to be getting way more popular too.
