Im not familiar with this, but has anyone ever warrantied a helmet? Ive got an RED trace and today i caught an edge and thought nothin of it. Hit my head but i didnt think it was that hard, just a little dizzy and shit. But on the lift up i realize that ive got a huge ass crack right down the middle back of the helmet, so apparently i smoked my head hard enough. Honestly tho i really do not think the impact was anywhere near hard enough to crack a helmet. I doubt u can warranty things like this but im wondering if anyone has ever been able to
Most of the foam helmets are actually designed to be good for one or two hard impacts before being useless. They're kinda like bike helmets in that way. I'm not familiar with that type of helmet, but its probably shot.... you can try asking RED about it, they'll have a better answer I'm sure.
thats pretty much what i was assuming...im just pissed that it cracked under what i feel was not a very hard impact. Maybe it was, who knows.....at least i was werin it
that's weird cuz my trace has taken many hard hits and it still is perfectly fine, im guessing your helmet may have had a defect from what you said, but im sure RED wouldn't consider it a defect, maybe take pics and send them to RED and describe the weakness of the hit it took, also post the pics here i'm interested to see what it looks like
call burton they'll offer you to buy another one at cost price.
that's how they deal even tho the place where they put the gogle holder tends to break a lot.
cost price..hmm. I think id prolly just buy another trace on sale from some shops i know. I'll get a picture up later. It pretty much cracked in the middle at the very bottom of the back of the helmet up to the corner of the left vent thing. Then it cracked a bit up from that vent. Its not just the shell, but the foam too. I think that this may be one of the wearker areas on the helmet tho
Hard foam helmets are one hit wonders: one good fall and they are done. To ask anything more of your helmet will create a situation where you might as well wear nothing.
