I was just wondering if anyone knows why K2 did decide to do a repeat of this contest. It was like the best idea ever but apparently it wasn't successful. So does anyone know why, specifically, they aren't holding it again.
The logistics of running a ski company and planning such a detailed event is hard for a handful of people, thus we are taking a break from it for this season. The Coldrush with Red Bull is an event we are partnered in this month up at Red Mountain. We are currently exploring options for a Back 9 return next season!
back 9 was wierd how the footage never came out, it was all secret and stuff, i guess photoplay has some footage i think, but i mean that was a comp for filming, they should have had that footage in a lot more vids
i think it was a brilliant idea, and they did a great job. but that said, the footage from powder.com was kind of depressing. it was a reminder that freestyle skiing is still a little awkward in the backcountry. there's inconsistency that you can't see in a film segment.
well if it wasnt "apparently successful" that mean they lost money so of course its not worth it for them to do it again...or it could be red bull doing something sorta similar and K2 being one of the major sponsers
i believe k2 showed that they were more into it than for just advertising for the event as the above said. thats unique for a ski company & crazy expensive. super super sick, but crazy expensive. props to k2. if that didn't make sense i'll try to explain while more sober later
Yeah, the ski media got a ton of slack for that, and rightfully so. Not even mentioning an accomplished skier's death that happened during the event in the coverage of the event is simply fucked up.
