Getting over a mental block

well its my first year freestyle skiing and i atarted doing rails a few weeks ago. Last week i was seshing a flat rail and wasnt doing too bad. Then i slid out and landed on my hip with a big bruise, The next day i hit the rail again and fell on the same exact spot hurting my bruise even more. I know that now i need to lean forward more, but the fear of falling like that again is stopping me from hitting the rail. I want to slide it so bad but everytime i approach it i puss out like a little bitch. Any good advice on getting over a mental block?

how wide are your feet? IF you keep your feet wider on the rail your have better balance and won't slide out. The only people who i saw slide out of rails today had there skis really close together

yeah man but the longer you put it off for the more it will scare you and the worst it will seem, but you just have to man up and do it

Damn right. Just listen to something that pumps you up, clear out your mind and just go for it. No regrets.

dont think about it. just get amped, go for it, and hope for the best. Thats what i did to do my first handrail, and i slid it perfectly...until i smashed my edge into a lightpole after i landed...but yea just do it.

i usually sit down before i do a rail or jump and think about what i have to do. Kinda visualizing every move and then I go for it.

the best advice i can give is to land on the rail so that your skis are FLAT. also, try to go onto the rail straight-on so you won't carve off the lip and land awkwardly.

to get over a mental block i like to call myself down usually. Just think of other sports and how much more painful they are, i usually think about playing football and getting knocked the fuck out. With skiing, most of the time your landing on nice fluffy snow, unless you live on the ice coast

dont think too technically. just approach it and visualize yourself doing it right, and concentrate on that.

just re;ax off the lip and put ur weight on ur front foot.
if ur balance is cottrct, the worst that can happen is ul slide off the side.

visualize yourself cleaning the rail and look at the end of the rail, keep your feet shoulder width apart.

bang on, when i fall on a trick, it makes me more determined to land it. even though it hurts, i go till i land it, or until i cant bare the pain.

Put your downhill hand by your right ass cheek when sliding too. Keep it glued there, it will set your shoulders right and force your weight to stay downhill more.

Also, the reason you likely fell the second time is because you were timid about falling again.
The biggest thing to skiing is mental and confidence.
Just go up to that rail and have the confidence that you will slay it. And you will. Go in worried abou falling, and you will.

Keep your eyes on the end of the rail! this keeps you visualized on what you have to do and also helps keep the weight forward.

Try to be super tuff and realize that not every fall hurts.
