We Need a Concious Ski Company!!!

Skateboaring has High Grade/SatorI/Creation skateboards that make all their gear out of bamboo and hemp, so why doesn't skiing have a company. We need all wood, bamboo core skis, hemp pants, hemp jacket, the whole deal.
Cause cotton is a bullshit fabric that you gotta use pesticides on, its not strong, and it shrinks up. Hemp is pretty much the best fabric for clothes anywhere, it makes sense that we need Heavy duty clothes for the outdoors so hemp is the answer there. I'm callin out to Tanner and the otha rasta shredders to get some of this natural shit going!!!

what the hell, you have to have sometype of plastic or whatever for the topsheet or the bamboo core could rot. And why does it matter if the use chemicals to make the clothes. Is it like helping out the corporation that run the war machine?

There are plenty of companies that have bamboo cores and hemp clothing would just be retarded. Unless you want to be soaked through and freezing your ass off by the end of the first run, i think we should stick with the sick shit theyre coming out with now.

well its important to some people to use natural materials. I don't see the point in knocking someone who's trying to do a better job at keeping the earth in good shape than you are.

well thing is that hemp is pretty expensive im pretty shure and wouldn't it have to be treated chemically in order to make it waterproof?

What is the waterproofing process?

dude are you fucking retarded if someone tride to ski in cotton/hemp outerwear they would probably die of exposure gortex and wp/b fabrics are made out of synthetics not something black people used to pick or hemp. skis already have wood cores (i would like to see you try and make some wood and hemp bindings though) the stuff you ski on/in isnt going to give you cancer or end up in a toxic waste dump cause mot likely, its recyclable dumbass. so go ahead, ski in your suit made of pot im sure everyone will like you

the whole point was to not have to use chemicals to treat it to make it waterproof. I think he was looking for all natural. If you wanted a warm naturally waterproofed thing i would suggest a rabbit hide+hair jacket but i don't think thats what your looking for.

and treating the hemp with chemicals to make it waterproof just defeats the purpose of even having hemp in the first place

We should also burn hippies for heat and energy, so we can stop using unrenewable resources.

listen, i like to call someone a fag or a retard just as much as the next guy. we're all in this low-self esteem boat together. i just thought that for once, we could hold off on the knee-jerk reactions and give a post a chance. of course the hemp clothes idea won't work for outerwear . . . but there are all kinds of possibilities for "green" ski construction. a ski company with a political identity that informed its actions wouldn't be all that bad, would it?

The idea of concious manufacturing is not a common one in the ski industry. If you are looking for environmentally sensative options, Sublux is a great place to start, as they use about 60% organic tshirts in their lineup.
Waterproofing can be water based ( ironically), but by its nature it has chemicals in it. The technological advancements in waterproofing, breathability, and fabric construction all have to do with chemicals.

to make clothes good and water proof they use gore tex or some thing like it, all of which is a layer that is made of teflon, they super heat it, and then stretch it, which makes holes in it that are big enough to allow water vapor molecules out (allowing for breathability), but small enough that liquid water molecules cannot pass through (making it waterproof). you can't heat hemp and make it do that.

jk I'm with all you practical types, sure going green is sweet and all but there are times when technology (green or otherwise) beats out any hackey-sack inspired bong sesh inspirations.

lastly proper spelling goes a long way when it comes to being taken seriously, when we see shit like "concious" it's hard not to believe that you've spent a tad too long thinking about living "green" and a bit too little time learning to spell and write coherently.

Dude he mis-spelled one word, and he corrected himself, lay off. Holden is making Hemp outerwear this year, and as it's been said, some companys already use bamboo for cores, Kingswood comes to mind first, On3p and Iggy are also hitting up the bamboo idea, and check out Libtech, they are a pretty 'green' company. We all need to do at least something towards making the world better, if we keep burning up fuels and doing nothing to clean the air, we're all gonna get fucked real bad.

a company does not have to use hemp and bamboo to be enviro friendly either. Have you ever checked out Patagonia?? From waht I believe they practice corporate social responsibility better than most any company out there, and have very enviro friendly practices.

This is all the first step I guess. as skiiers though we really as a whole are pretty bad for the environment...so much energy expenditure goes into running a ski area.
