I can't say from experience, but by what I've heard:
It probably won't be as good as a specialized back country boot or even an all mountain boot for that kind of riding, but it's not like it will be impossible to do. "Oh my God I can't drop this cliff because this boot is a little bit too wide and soft." It may just take some getting used to. Some guy at my mountain skis them all over the place and I don't hear any complaints from him. But the majority of people on this site say it's absolutely terrible for all mountain riding, but I don't know how many of them have actually ridden the boot.
Keep in mind: I haven't so I could be completely wrong.
Its chill, im used to my 3 year old 1080s that were just as soft, so it works just dandy, i skied the headwaters shoots at moonlight with em and it was all good. I just buckled them down another notch.
I'm 185LBS and 5'11 and I rock this boot all over the Mt. THis boot is the most comfortable boot I have ever put my foot into.
Mind you this is just my foot I'm speaking about. I raced for years and a little softer is Ok I'm finding. Yes the SPK boot is designed for Park and Pipe but everybody does different things on the Mt. I ski 95% big mountain and 5% park only when there is no good lines to be skied.
This boot rocks and is a great buy for anybody that wants a great feeling boot with an 85 flex.
I absolutely love my krypton cross' they are fuckin amazing...they r a step up from the rampage..and come with so much hardware and features you can completely transform the boot from a flexi park boot to a stiff racing boot in minutes!! They take about 12 hors of sriding to really break them in..but go with the krypton series!!
they'll be fine, but if you want them to ski well all mountain get them fitting real snug across your foot, cuz after around 15-20 days they pack out to get way wider, mine are 28.5 and I wish I got 28s cuz they are a tad wide for skiing out of the park. :/
