got to ski at the yellowstone club today. that place is sweet! they valet park your car and carry your skis up to the base area for you. the warren miller lodge is out of control. free hot chocolate and cookies at the upper lodge. took one trip to the top of the mountain-sweet views of cedar and the sphinx from the top. found some surprisingly good snow on a tree run off the backside. then pretty much stuck with the groomers. im not usually much for groomers, but these were really fun runs. super fast, lots of rollovers and lips to air off of. fun terrain. a good day. and now theres a "snow and blowing snow" advisory for SW MT for tomorrow. hope we get a bunch.
You're very lucky/have connections/very rich. Not sure which one. But the yellowstone club is like the elitist club around here, which spanish peaks right behind it. It's usually always untracked pow cause no one skis they just come and be rich. I hope to sometime ski there this year.
it was a combination of luck and connections. i am definately not rich. my buddy goes to the little church in meadow village, and someone else from the church who is a member at the club put out an open invitation to everyone else in the church, and whoever they wanted to invite. there wasnt much pow or anything- it was more enjoyable for being kind of novel. just a couple dirtbags skiing one of the most exclusive places around.
i herd spanish peaks is like 10 times more classy and shit than the yellowstone club. one guy i know who works at a ski shop in Great Falls got to ski with Scott Schmidt there.
just found out that after my buddy and i left (we had to work), the group we were with ran into good old warren miller himself, got to ski with him for the rest of the day. cursed work.
a friend of mine got to ski there 3 years ago. i dont remember how he got hooked up exactly though. i have footage of him doing a frontflip with big sky in the back ground.
the quad even has a face cover on it to
I shredded there last year on a pow day. That upper ridge is amazing and most importantly empty. I saw someone maybe every 4 laps. My dad had a friend that had a friend who was a member and somehow worked it out for me to ski there. Def take that opportunity if you have it.
right now, spanish peaks is just real estate, basically, as far as i can tell. just another place for rich people to have huge houses. i dont think they have much of their own terrain- just access to big sky.
sooooo the most expensive house in teh WORLD is going to be built there. 150 MILLION bucks. its going to be like 50000 sq. feet i think? and have its own private gondola coming out of the fucking house.
i remember rading an article in skiing or ski and 2 people snuck into yellowstone club from big sky dressed like gorillas and the lifties were cool about it and didnt really care. And they had it to themselves except one family who was there. I also heard that being ski patrol there is one of the best jobs because nobody skis the upper mountain which is hard and they ski it everyday to themsleves
seriously if u poach do they like fine you or something because they dont need anymore money im guessing... maybe they really do shoot you, i guess im gonna have to guinea pig this one...
It's also going to use the energy that 500 normal homes would use. And that's not an arbitrary figure. The world will soon start revolving around that house because the people there are clearly the center of the universe.
Yeah and send the energy bills of the people that actually live here through the roof. Not to mention that 1/2 the firefighters in the state will be working to protect that thing when the area torches this summer.
They should have to pay for their own firefighters, we all know they can afford it. I seriously want to just burn that entire shithole down. Not only do I hate everybody there, but it's probably the ugliest piece of land in that entire county. I have no idea why people pay millions of dollars for a house with a view of a thousand clearcuts. I guess it must be a really good ego booster or something, because that area is toward the bottom of the list of places I'd like to live.
damn I ski at Big sky every weekend and always wanted to go to either spanish peaks or yellowstone club anyone got any hook ups? i wish i was just rich so i could buy a phat house and ski all the untracked powder in the clubs! if no one has any hook ups we should get a group to go and poach them lol cause im down
Yellowstone club can suck a dick. However, I do think that this part of Montana is very beautiful indeed. Enema obviously isnt very familiar with the area, and thats fine.
I've worked up there, so I think I am somewhat familiar with that area. It was beautiful at one point, but then Plum Creek got up there and logged the shit out of the entire area. If you can get past the checkerboard forest, developments, and stuck up people it is a very cool place. I guess I just can't appreciate the beauty of a clear cut like you can.
