To me, right now it seems that skiing is branching off in two directoins. There is this whole part that has always been there, the major comp circut, the crazy rotation and now all these double flips and everything, which is cool, i mean there is some sick shit going down, like pete 0's and tanner's pipe tricks are unbelievable... but also , you can see the shit that pep, mahre and pollard are doing, something different, this more free based form of skiing, something fresh with a new style. i cantreally decide witch i like more. i am skiing more and more with out poles, and trying to slow down tricks and style shit out more, so maybe that means im progressing towards Filming the Idea.
i just wanted to know where other kids are seeing skiing going...

I like a lil of both. I think skiing will branch off into 3 branches. A large park branch, with spin ot win and stuff, a smaller one with like pep, pollard, andy, ant and people like that with backcountry and slow spins, and then the hardcore freeskiing like cliffs and stuff

everyone must pick one branch only and hate on the other.
you know what, if your a pro and ski 200 days a year, u have time too get tired of some aspects of skiing and focus on ur passion,
but i only ski 60 days a year, so when theres pow on the steep cliffs, ill huck them, when theres sun on te park, ill spin the shit out of it, and when im feeling real energetic, ill build some shit and combine the two.
im never gunna spin like charlie, style like ep or huck like seth, but fuck it if im not just gunna have fun trying.
i dont care for categories. just fucking ski.

i def like both but i appreciate the unique and tech tricks that pollard, pep and andy are throwing more... but if any one saw charlie agars' sw 7 at the open, that is where i want to see comp skiing going. i want to see unique corks with whackly tweaked grabs that are UNIQUE sw 10 mute can be cool but not if ev. one throws it

Skiing is about soul. For me, that means style and having fun. I would rather do a cossak that I enjoy than a switch 14 that I do not.

Skiing will go in all different directions. Some people like to do different things than others, and will push that aspect of the sport.

I will most likely always stick with my poles i really am going to miss skiing being all one group cus its gonna get kinda hektic cus theres gonna be hate and i admit ive distrubuted my hate towards no poles i just dont want to lose the bond that skiers have with eachother against dick face boarders instead of against eachother
idunno i just dont want to be imaged as a no pole snow bladder

Skiing is going the same direction it was when it started: downhill.

The Idea or whatever it is is gonna me effing amazing. Pep and Mahre just rip through PC's parks with so much style. I think the movie will totally bring out the day to day fun in skiing, just in regular parks. I like them both. I think right now I'm more into the spin to win comp. circuit thing.

It doesn't really matter to me. I of course think that everything that Pep and Pollard is sick, but also teh comp circuit is sick. But naturally I'm going to enjoy watching skiing that is similar to the skiing that I do everyday, more on the Pep and Pollard side. So to sum it up, skiing can go whichever way it wants, but as long as there is some skiing that I can relate to, and get inspired from. I'm happy doing my own thing.

What? Mainstream, popular, the "cool" thing to do???
I can go on and give 100 reasons why it's still not even close to snowboarding. Just look at the money that people make skiing, compared to snowboarding.

Yea IM in total agreement with you. When I hit the park it feels good to rip a big spin spesh in combo with another big spin, even if you miss a grab or w/e. When I get to go out west and ride pow. I look for the biggest thing I can drop and steeper lines that I normally cant do. And for the record its cool to toss a steezy 3 but really its way more fun to toss a kinda shitty 9.

i'd have to say i'm a fan of the more layed back stylie aspect of skiing. I really don't like seeing people do a million switch ups on rails and trying to spin a 1440 or whatever. This part of skiing is really starting to remind me of roller blading and many skiers seem to have the attitude "check this out snowboarders, i can spin on the rail 50 times and do a triple back flip, do you like us now?" Why can't skiers just relax and try and style everything out?

100 percent agree. there are soo many kids that do JUST that, and i dont really like the way it looks, or find it fun to do. like, i can throw 9s and 10s, but y? it isnt fun to huck that shit around like that. id WAY WAY rather throw a super smooth 5, do smooth rails, interesting grinds, etc. but whatever, to each his own.

i would say i lean more towards the pollard and pep side, its just way more fun to style stuff out than it is to do super tech 12s and 5 sw ups on a rail. i know i will never be a successful pro skier in comps and films, so i think its pointless to push myself that far, when i could just push it to the point where i am having the most fun.

i see skiing branching in two directions, on with gay skiers and one without gay skiers. THe real question at hand is... what branch do you fall under?

wholy flip son!
Get out of the box!
Infact, break the box down, and recycle it...
only 2 directions?
way to have a closed mind. There is more to shredding than pro's, and almost pro's you know?
People likeyou seem to not have fun skiing and only see the top layer... maybe you should quit.

What do you do with your hands if you are not holding poles?
All times are Eastern (-5)
