Replying to Peer Pressure (story)
So I was eying up this fucking awesome urban rail in the middle of a small city. (Morgantown) The rail was originally a 40 ft flat rail but was at one point in its history struck by a car. This caused the rail to rainbow in the front and break in half towards the bottom so there was a gap from one side to the next.
I started building the jump at 1030, I am a terrible jump builder. By 10:45 people got the word that "a skier was going to try to slide this rail. A crowd began to gather. People were on their roofs with video camera, I'd say a total of around 60 people came outside to watch this happen. THey were getting pissed aobut having to wait, but I said hey its not ready yet. Someone said "just hit it already" So I said fine, the jump is good enough. I was wrong
I drop in to hit this behemoth of a rail (I'll try to find video I took of it) and I'm pumped up listen to my jams and shit. Going in at an aweosme speed, hit the jump.... AND MY SKI SANK IN. This prevented me from getting the pop and the jump pretty much collapsed. I rode the entire rail on my balls and my knee hit the seperation where the two rails broke apart full speed catapulting me onto my face onto hard cement. Usually with a group of skier who understand taking falls people would come over help you out and see if you are ok. Not in a college town/ city like morgantown. I had 50+ people yelling "OH SHIT" then proceeding to crack up while video taping the whole thing while I am in terrible pain on the ground. SO let me just say, don't give in to peer pressure, don't hit anyhting until you are 100% READY, or else you might end up sterile
