is anyone here straightedge? like its gay cuz some of my friends are starting to really get into drinking, and i think its actually kinda gay just becuase, well, idk. has anyone else on here had friends like this or whatever?

its ok if you want to drink or whatever do it one time and they will get the idea, i have seen it happen with my friends who didnt drink and started, i always make sure to call them up now that i know they wanna have fun to.

No, and they'd be fucking idiots if they judged you like that man. It's not about how early you start at all, or whether you do, but it's a good idea to try it if you're curious and you can make your own decision from there. We all had some point in our lives where we said we'd never do that shit, but most of us have by now. Go for it if you wanna, don't if you don't, but what you think of others and what they think of you shouldn't be infleuncing this decision.

Ya dude i'm straight edge. Ya I ski I have fun I don't care what other people do with there lives it's theirs not mine right. But most of my friends drink and do drugs but i don't care if you judge people thats not cool so don't judge straight edgers for doing what they believe is right we are all skiers anyway

I consider myself as strait edge. Yes, I do drink and love getting drunk. But, its as far as I go. I feel better that relation sex is better than one night stands and I have never done illigal drugs, nor do I smoke tobacco. I dont really conform to every view...I do have the moral philosophy of good clean fun.

All I have to say is stay proud of who you are, dont sell out and be the best at what you can be.

I used to be as far from straight edge as can be classified. But I've been clean from everything since Jan. 2/07.

Sort of proud I guess. Now I know that I can enjoy myself without being high or tanked. Still getting used to the 'freedom' away from drugs and alcohol.

Do what you belive is right, and don't let pressure get to you. And If you're ever up for drinking, blazing- whatever it may be, make sure you're with people you trust.

I have some advice for all you straight edgers:  Go take a fucking shot, then take 6 more.  Then go smoke a bowl.  Repeat.  Seriously, go live your lives and have some fucking fun.  Sure alcohol and weed can fuck shit up, but only if you let them.  I partied 4 days a week and smoked daily last semester and got the best grades I have ever gotten.  Do you really want to grow up and look back and realize that you missed out on the best times of your life?

My advice; do what you want, don't worry about what your friends are doing. If they're still your friends (and good friends to begin with) they'll adapt to drinking with you in mind (whether they realize it or not). You should be able to do your thing, let them do their thing, and have a good time with it.

I've been to parties sober and drunk, I've smoked a few times and honestly, didn't enjoy being high any more than being sober. Being drunk's fun, but not my thing. Just live and let live bro.

i had a friend who was always raggin on us for drinkin sayin we're just screwin up are lives. but then he kinda realize thats just the bs his parents always fed him. then he just kinda put it out there that he might want to try drinking. realized it was fun and really loosend people up to the point where shit didn't matter and now he's a casual drinker. so just drop somethin to your friends that you might wanna try it and i'm sure they'll think its cool and they'll start invitin you to the "drinking parties"

And yes, I agree with all of you who say that the sxe kids who think they're better than everybody else are dicks. In high school, I didn't have many friends outside of school and the reason in high school was 'wow, everybody's drinking and I'm not' so I thought that everybody hated me because I didn't drink. I now realize that nobody wanted to hang out with me because I held myself above everybody else. I thought I was better than everybody who DID drink. It sucks, I wish I could take that back but I've learned from it and know now to let people do what they want and I'll do what I want; and whether that's for me to go to a party sober or to go to a party and win a beirut tourney... who knows for now.

I don't smoke or drink because I don't want to. Ya some of my best friends have got locked up from doing that stuff. I don't see the point in it but I won't care if you do it but as long as you don't inforce it on me i'll be cool with you. I think being straight edge is gay as hell, if you don't want to drink or do drugs, just don't. no one is making you pick one side of the spectrum, just don't do things you don't want to. Having X's on your hands is weak as hell in my mind.

i used to be straight edge because i would always think that i can always have fun without alchol. and that still stands. i drink and i like it. sometimes its just fun to have. but i hate it when people tell me to stop drinking and that im an idiot for not being straighedge.

i have friends who are straightedge and i respect their views on that. as they respect mine.

*p.s not everyone who goes to shows is straighedge. so dont stereotype*

Don't let people make decision for you. I had friends in highschool that started to drink. I didn't like it cause I didn't drink. I seen some of my friends really loss them sleves to this, and other are making great things happen for their lives. I really belive if your a weak person drinking and doing drugs will take over for you on what gets you happy, and then your dreams start to faid away. I seen it happen. I waited till the summer after high school till I even tired drinking. Now I'm about to guraduate this spring from college. Through out college I party all the time, and drank a buch. I have a hell of a lot of storys to tell. I'm sure you hear this, everbody that is older will tell you that you better live it up in college, cause after that its the real world, and as much it sounds like fun, it can get old real quick. By the way if I didn't do well in school I would have gave up drinking, and when I found my self really needing a drink when by your self, like going to sleep I woudn't cause its started to be too much of a habit.

you dont have to claim edge just cuz u dont wanna drink or anything. straight edgers are kinda looked down on here cuz by claiming edge you are accepting a whole set of ideas and values that may not necessarily be your own. a lot of sxe kids are insecure and they try to cover that up with the whole image of being sxe. by claiming edge youre going to be pidgeonholed with these kinds of kids.
