for pure freestyle i was wondering if I should go shorter in ski length. I have some trouble rotating as quick as some. right now i have 169 PE's and I am 5'8". i need to get my bindings centered on the ski a bit more, do u think this will help with my rotational woes, or do u think i need a shorter pair of skis?
Yeah, your skis are too short if anyhting. As you get used to spinning more you'll be able to rotate much faster. Don't bother with remounting, it's just a waste of time and money and you won't notice the difference really.
yeah ok, my shop said tehy would center them for free so I might go with that. I think I just need to grow a pair and just go for it more. I have a massive hemotoma in my hip though from 5 successive weeks of hip injuries from rails in the same exact place so I might "easy style" it.
shit man, idk how big mine is. it covers about a 7"x7" area on my hip and just out about 2 inches from where my hip normally is. the thing is just plain annoying, and i squeal like a little girl and cant get myself to move for about a minute or two after i land on it or hit it on a rail. This is the kind of shit that i am hoping to stop by gaining better control of my skis while in the air so i dont loose my balance when landing and fuck myself up.
Shorter is gay, don't worry about spinning with smaller skis, I switch 7ed my parks biggest table a healthy 15 feet, with 182 scratch BCs on the other day.
yeah, they are def real heavy skis that i bust through shit with on the mountain but in the park I feel like my skis control me and I dont control the skis. I was thinking about getting soem invaders, are those light?
yeah, im gonna invest in some padded pants. I can't take time off from skiing. I have season goals and if I don't complete my checklist then im gonna be ebating myself all the way into next season.
just sayin man thats some bad shit, a hematoma is internal bleeding, i have a blood condition (lo platelate count, 35,000) so yea wait for ur season goals for like 2 weeks you really won regret it
i had a hematoma on the side of my upper thigh as well a few years back. Excruciating pain if I fell on it, but I never got it checked out, now I just have scar tissue.
But for length, skis do not really play a big role in rotation speed. Most of it comes from the skier, so going shorter doesn't really affect anything, except hinder you from other aspects of skiing (some skis do have more swing weight than others, and PEs, in my experience, have more than a lot of park skis). Also, height isn't as important as weight/strength. A 169 PE is pretty much as short as you want to go, unless you weight like 100lbs, then even that ski might be pushing it.
You don't need tiny-assed skis, you just need to get better at spinning. I'm 5'6" and I can spin my 181 thugs (120 under foot) just fine. I really like jumping with bigger skis- it may take a little more to get them spinning but they seem to smooth out the rotation.
