Hats off to Alpine's terrain park crew for hosting a great Sundays In The Park today! Super fun - hope you can come back for the next one, which is February 11. Other dates are 3/11, 3/25, 4/1/, 4/8, 4/15, 4/22, and 4/29.
Alpine Meadows drew more than 30 competitors who showed their urban jib steeze at the winter’s first Sundays In The Park. The nine-event series is held every other Sunday, and the premier competition was held on the 32’ C Box in the Kangaroo Terrain Park.
Competitors stoked each other’s game-on courage and willingness to push the envelope with cheers of support and high praise for perfect tricks – and even higher praise for animated bails. The fun, easy-going vibe flowed throughout the event from start-to-finish.
Skiers and snowboarders took as many runs as they could during the 90 minute jam session, pulling off cab 270s-to-switchups on the box, lip slide-to-450-outs, and 180-to-boardslides. In the end, top honors went to Nick Costanzo in the men’s snowboard division, Femke Henkiques was the top women’s snowboarder; US Open competitor Becca Babicz took first place for women’s skiers, and Drew Fisher won over the judges for top men’s ski division.
Winners received cash from Snowbomb, gear from DaKine, Smith, Helly Hansen, Standard Films, Purl Wax, and more.
The next Sundays In The Park is scheduled for February 11. A full list of dates for the series can be found on the events page of Alpine’s website, http://www.skialpine.com.
