i found this piece of wood that used to book case or something like that so its definantly hard and strong . it might be oak ( i think) but its the perfect size for alittle box. will it slide ?

i have a wood flat down box but its pressure treated so its wicked dense. you def have to put somthing on it i found if i put some butchers wax on it and let it sit over night it would kind of freeze over and it slid really well. ive had it for 2 years and its still perfect. u just have to wax it at least a couple times over the winter.

unless the wood is really dense or a hard wood, it generally doesn't work well for boxes. Your edges often catch, and it requires constant putting snow on it to help slide. If you can drill some surface onto it.

he must have done some research. i have used some tropical woods that are pretty damn hard. You cant cut these woods with regular tools and they are so dense they sink in water

We had one with a counter top, that slid pretty good. your edges do occasionally catch where the pieces change though, so if you coulf get like a back splash or something that is already like 10 ft long, and like 6 inches wide it would be best. I have a sheet of that formica stuff in my basement that were using, so I cant slide it, but it does crack easy, so i dont think that it would hold up to well. Plus its kinda expensive like $160 I think for a 4 x 8 ft piece.
