the red sox are turning into the yankees. that's right, i'm saying it. my team is going down the shitter. over-paying athletes and maxing out their payroll. its bullshit. this is partially thanks to scott boras, but sox brass are still the ones approving the deals and cutting the checks.
a great example of this foolishness is trot nixon vs jd drew in stats:

we passed on trot, a fan favorite that has spent his entire career in boston where he handled the media perfectly. he signed with cleveland, 1 year 3 million.
we signed jd drew who had a ton of issues in LA with privacy & the media. despised by his LA fans for being lazy and playing without heart. he has been known to show less heart and effort than manny. we signed him to a 5 year 70 million deal.
both have them have had their careers bogged down over the years with injuries.
i won't even get into what we paid for matsuzaka, but we also overpaid lugo to play short.
the newest money pit the sox are interested in...Todd Helton, looking for around 90 million over 6 years.
god help major league baseball and my beloved red sox.
