Is X about SKIING anymore?... (was it ever)

Every year i watch the X-games its more hype more camera time on the skiers, some more hype, and then the runs of the top four contenders and thats it. This is just the begining. That gold medal had tanners name on it before the comp even started. Is there anyone on this site that would actually say Tanner lagit won? His second run had a cab 10 (mind you it was just an extra pencil twist 3 in the cab 7), he landed sketch, and then on his last 10 he totaly missed the grab. That is no where near a 95. Dumont straight up made Tanner his bitch with his run, and those judges were probobly picked up at the last olypic figure skating competition cause this shit not only isn't about the skiing anymore, but its rigged.
I think next year, Cosco should make it to finals, and then do an all straight air run w/ as many kangs as possible.

it was lame..and this will be deleted because for some reason it's wrong to state my opinion. 1260's..double flips..ugly switch 1080's = lame. if i want to see that i can watch aerials. this is newschool skiing. and to whomeever said those are tech tricks all i have to say is i could learn a 12 or double flip long before i could learn an unnatural 10 that's for sure. seriouly these x games blew..tanner didn't deserve the win. hateveit, thomas, west..thanks for keeping it newschool.

YO At this point in time, im actually really angry. I cannot believe that Dumont got screwed out of the Gold. T-Hall acted like an idiot when he won and gave no credit where it was due, to the real winner Dumont. Dumont's run was so far superior to T-Hall's that its not even funny. I wish there was some way to contact the judges and kick them in the balls, and if they are girls, then i'll slap em in du face. I have to calm down im getting all worked up. DUMONT RULES!!!!!!

Tanner needs to stop suckin the judges dongs and realize he is not as good as he thinks he is. His reaction after the win just rubbed it in everyone elses face that he got lucky with the judging. Simon was obviously robbed and the judges shoulb be shot

yea i do believe tanner deserved the win. Andreas, now he got screwed the most. Olenick, albeit rather neet, was given way too high of a score.
I didnt watch the actual event on TV, so I dont know how the coverage was. Over internet, it was alright.

Dumont boosted huge with style that beat anyone elses in the competition. Dumont knew it wasent a spin to win, if he thought it was that he would have done 1240s on every hit. He mixed it up and made the most epic run i have evere seen EVER with damn solid grabs too. Sorry dumont dosent know how to 720 to pencil 360 on his first hit he can only boost 24 feet and throw down a huge 540 truck to solid mute. Anyone who thinks tanner won should look at the footage and question their lives.

yea so a 25ft truckdriver to mute, isn't tech enough, or howbout the aleyoop flat 7, or crist dude tanner's cab 10 wasn't tech it was a cab 7 with an extra pencil 3 at the last second, and he misted the grab in his last 10, and what about hatviet's UNATRUALL 1080! is that tech enough, tanners run wasn't "tech" it wasn't gnar, and it wasn't worthy of gold

i think that theres only so much they can do with spins up to 10s. although its maybe not as stylish, im glad to see dumont pushing the envelope.

dude simons 12 was way worse then tanners sw. 10. o and tanner actually grabed in his first sw. 10. simon wasnt ever evan close to down there when he did his 12. and simons 12 was middle of run(less risky) and tanners was on hte first hit. and tanner droped in switch, where simon did the same thing he did last year, truck 5.
tanner deserved it. his hole run was very smooth, and if recall correctly (didnt see simons final run) simon also landed sketch on his 12

Yea I agree, at least tanners switch 10 was grabbed even if he had to penis spin that last 3, its a super tech trick and on the first hit, soo risky, where simone's 12 tho not grabbed is technical but its further down and not as tech as a sw 10 which if I was a judge that would make a difference in the totall score. PLus simone should have 9ed his first hit it look like he had to fight to stop the over rotation, but a 9 at 24 feet would look like a 5 at 15.

sad to say, but espen doesn't give a shit about skiing. it's all about shaun white and snowmobieling backflips. it's really too bad beacause if the 'new school' skiing got what it deserved it would put skier HP in the olympics for sure. but i guess no matter what we'll still be a few steps behind the boarders in the main stream eyes. we go faster and bigger (FACT!) with way less props. thats bullshit.

i only saw like the last bit of the comp, what was candide's run? He was like 5th or something. Espn totally makes their comps disney stories with the stories about tanner and everything. Like he was making the last step of a huge quest or something.

you guys are rediculous hating on tanner like you are the shit. Sayin his cab 10 had no style. It was a cab 10 in the pipe for cryin out loud. A grabbed cab 10 is harder than a no grab 1260. And for the kids ranting about dumonts amplitude. Simon went bigger first hit and tanner was bigger on the last hit so make you own conclusions on that one. The runs are difficult to compare. cab 10 vs 5, flat 5 vs 5, 9 vs 9, flat 5 vs 1260, 1080 vs cab 7. And the kid who said "T-Hall acted like an idiot when he won and gave no credit where it was due" you are a complete idiot. Before Simon made his last run, tanner was talkin about how dumont had been killin it all day and could easily win. Even after when they asked if he was surprised he said yes. So don't go making shit up about a guy who deserves so much more respect than you're giving him. I don't care who won cause in my opinion anyone in the top 3 had runs that were gold material. More impressive was how all the riders acted about it, especially tanner compared to past years. Some of you need to sit back and realize how good that comp was for our sport and stop bitching about the judges.

and having to watch the snowmobile stupid stuff for an hour cause they showed 2 skiing runs in the middle of the snowmoblie part is just stupid, i don't care about some guys on sleds falling or whatever its not amusing, they should have separate schedules for each different event so you can watch whatever event you want when u want

tanner landed sketch on the cab 10 and missed the grab in his last 10, yes first hit is more risky, but simon did a 25ft cork five truckdriver to mute first hit, whats more risky a twisted cab 10 at 10ft out or a 25ft cork 10 w/ 2 grabs? Tanner did stomp some shit, but his run wasn't incredibly smooth, dumont put in a greater effort
the two difference in tanners first run from his second run was this
1st run: first hit cab 7 semi long long grab time, last hit 10 semi long grab time
2nd run: first hit cab 10 (cab 7 to pencil 3) verry small grab time, last hit 10 no grab time
the middle tricks in both runs were pretty much the same
Tanners Scores:
1st run: 90.00
2nd run: 95.00
the judges gave him a whole 5 extra points for missing the grab in his last hit, and an unstyleish extra twisted 360 in a cab 7.
thats not just unfair, thats "spin to win judging"

Du Bag, your thread should be re named the Simon Dumont Fan Club, I watched the run over Tanners second run was WAYYYY more styley and tech than simons last run, He goes in switch nails the SW 10 gets the grab, and keeps it clean the whole way down. Simon played it safe at the top, and then just went for forward spins.

i agree completely. the judges obv dont know jack shit about freeskiing besides that tanner is the most hyped so the judges guess he should win. hatveits last run was so smooth and he had great pipe run, just cause his name isnt tanner or he didnt pull a hucked 1260 he doesnt get the score he deserves. dont get me wrong tanners run was good and smooth but idk about a 95

i really hated all hatveits runs. He went sooooo small that 9 to 10 to switch 9 (i think thats what it was) was the gayest looking sequence I've ever seen. It was so unbelievable hucked. Technically speaking that blew most others outta the water, but it was just so damn little.
But I honestley feel simon should have won and i remember i knew right after his run that he wasnt going to win, cuz the judges are so much on tanners side. The 2004 and 05 slopstyle contests (i think they were the years) i honestly thought Tanner was beat but he still won gold.
