Need some tips on my flat rail

so i'm gonna get me a flat rail welded say about 17ft long, what kind of metal would be best to use and cheapest? i heard something about steel 2x4, also, how high should i make it(this is for a backyard setup) also, what is the best way to get the supports welded on so that the thing is sturdy?

I like the idea of 2x4 steel, thinner would be cheaper but its what you like to slide. As for height, 3' at the most, I use 2 or less wherever possible, it takes more snow than you think.

Yeah no real point of having a back yard rail to hight. Ur mostly just trying to learn tricks. If its too high then you are gonna have way higher consiquences and it will take too much snow.

Steel is good for a base. See if you can get it galvanized for an extra few bucks cuz then it'll slide better. Doesn't really matter though. and ya 2x4 are good dimensions for a flat-bar.

put it at least a foot to 1 and a half feet off the ground because if not you could drag tips or tails while sliding it
especially if its lower than 8 inches

Can you get it galvanized after its welded, cause I know that you can't weld galvanized metals with out like dying.
