Converting purchased itunes music to MP3's

So i recently got a new car and in the new car is deck that plays mp3 and wav files. When i try to burn music from my
i tunes library it cant convert to mp3. Anyone know the secret to changing the m4p files to mp3?

you sure your using the right kind of discs? when I burn songs to a cd, they work in my cd player just fine, and I dont convert anything

Yeah, thats because they burn as wave files, but if you can burn them in mp3 format you can get 200 songs on a disk. so i need to know how to convert from wave to mp3.

edit (or iTunes if on a mac) > preferences > advanced > burning.

then choose under format "mp3 CD". i've actually never burned an mp3 cd, but that in theory should work.

I just got the error that says: could not convert file to mp3 this is a itunes file...

then you're going to have to burn your songs to a CD, then re-import them into iTunes, making sure under importing (same place as burning, just different tab) that you have "import using" as mp3.

i'm not sure how to convert them other then that. good luck.
