So I have got a competion coming up this weekend, and I dont have any days for practice because I just learned about it today. I want to learn a few new tricks for this but I want a whole day to take it easy. So should I go for it in my practice runs or just do what I normally would do.
what tricks do u have prepared cause i mean if your gonaa stright air and tap your skis for grabs.....then try new things but all depends on the stuff u can do
I pretty muched straight aired last year at this comp and then did a lip nose press and I won. But this year I am thinking of throwing down a zero spin off of our biggest jump (I have never done a zero spin) and then switch on to a rail not a box, blind sided 270 out. And then 450 off of this BIG ass T-box, and I have never 450'd....so yeah, there you go.
um no isn't a t box one that has like a flat box surfact to grind on but is only supported by a narrow pipe or whatever is used, instead of being an actual box that is the same width all the way down?? so like, if you look at the end of it it looks like a T.....
Try some new shit before the comp. You need to get used to the feeling of a new trick. If its a jam you can go for some harder tricks, but if its a one hit wonder deal, stick with the bread and butter, the judges will appreciate clean tricks.
They're both actually. There's the ones that have a little bit of lip of both ends of the rail(that's the one you're talkin bout, right?) and then just some tall boxes.
yeah im gonna do a snowbomb comp and on teh 3 and im kinda nervous cus the park its gonna be held in doesnt have big tables just like 1 15 footer which is retarded but if your afraid to try craZy shit just do the shit you can do with as much style as possible some judges prefer style over the actual trick
go have fun, make jokes and stuff at the top with the other competitors before your run, just dont think about it at all and do the things that you know you can stick. If you get stressed out your gunna mess up
i no what your sayin i have a big comp coming up that is like goingto be on nbc...im going all out and tryin some new stuff...im going to try switch cork 9..o its that next snow sear allstars thing
last year i had my first comp and wasn't ready for it at all, i got there and there was shit i hadn't even tought of doing (big trap rail) but i had to get the balls in the practice runs and i did it was a slopestyle and i finished third
well there is no reason to be neverous at a comp. i was at my first comps, even if i couldnt do shit, but no more, regardless of magnitude.
But as for stuff to do... depends on the format. If you get like two runs, best run counts, then its better to just throw a nice run that you can stick, and save the bigger stuff for another day. Trying new shit at a comp can be good, it can also be bad. If you get a lot of practice in, and its more like jam format, and you feel confident in your skiing, then it doesnt really hurt to try some new things (within reason, dont want to get hurt). But really, its better to go into a comp with some stuff solid, rather than trying it then.
JEA for mini/ local hill straight air comps, i entered one last year and owned the comp with like a couple of 3's and 5's and got a free pair of crowbars out of it. A bunch of fun.
From my experiences, your first run should be solid. Be comfy with all the stuff that you throw, you should be able to do these tricks in your sleep. Once you get a good solid first run, do some of the same variations but giv'er on some other tricks. Instead of a usual 3, 5 it. Instead of a swicth on, swicth on 2 out. Good luck
