Has anyone ever heard of Webb Institute of Naval Architecture, in NY?

It's my school, and its absolutly tiny. Pretty much no one has ever heard of it, outside of the field of Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering. I was just curious as to whether or not anyone here had.

Oh, and if your smart and into boats and stuff, check it out. You get a full ride scholarship if you get in.

I looked into it but it was too small for me and I ended up not wanting to build boats.

I can't imagine why I would go to a school to build boats to kill people. That seems like an empty existance.

It's something that needs to be done and is a career at that. What wars to fight/should we fight at all is not something that needs to be discussed in this thread though.

dude, i don't think naval architecture means built boats for the navy. I'm pretty sure it means design boats in general.

i am pretty sure that is the school my uncle went to, and just b/c it is called naval architecture does not mean you learn how to design boats for the Navy, my uncle designs yachts of all kinds and im pretty sure he hast built any destroyers

Naval Architecture has nothing to do with the navy if you don't want it to. Sure you can do naval ships, but the vast majority of nav archs do not. ^And yeah the courseload's a bitch. But I'm in california right now on sort of an internship. I'm restoring classic wooden boats and living an hour from Tahoe, so its not all bad.

I don't think it's shallow, I said 'as shallow as it may seem' because the dude above me said it was empty (I believe was the term) or shallow.
