yes, it's easier to abuse alcohol. That's not the point. If that were the point, my argument wouldn't hold. My point, though, was that it's rare for somebody to smoke pot for a reason OTHER than getting the high that comes with it. Alcohol, on the other hand, can be consumed without effecting you in such a way. I'm not saying that pot's more dangerous, I'm saying that when it comes down to controlling alcohol/pot/drugs, the current state of legalization, laws, etc, are set because they are simply ways that the government is ABLE to control. I'm sure that if drunk driving could be prevented entirely by finding a way to prevent people from getting drunk, that would be done, but that type of control isn't possible.
It's the same idea as making driving while talking on cell phones in NY. It may be a small change that isn't nearly as dangerous as driving while tired, but it's something objective, instead of subjective, that CAN BE controlled.

I dont have a problem with people smoking weed. As a matter of fact i'll smoke a joint everynow and then. But I absolutely HATE when weed falls into the wrong hands..
By that I mean any 13 year old kids or some dumbass gangster-wanna-be guys, who are no smarter than the average 4th grader. The ones that mainly talk about fighting. Even that I really dont mind... It's just when they come to the skatepark when people are trying to skate stuff and they lie around all day in everyones way acting like 6 year old idiots. Then act like they own the place.

it all comes down to how can it be governed. there is a BAC level required to operate a motor vehicle. is there a way to determine how much pot or shooms a person has taken. when that technology becomes available, which with enough money and research the techonology can be developed. but not untill then can pot and shrooms be considered for legalization. sure there are medical reasons for its prescription. but that still can be abused.

I honestly don't think that driving high is overly dangerous... my last day before I went back to college, me and a friend shared six bowls and although she drove slowly, we never even came close to crashing, and we drove around quite awhile.

I say the less oxys floating around the better. If people can get by on their illness by smoking weed, why would you ever suggest that they take addictive pills. Health care should be about health, not some bullshit pharmacuetical lobby. But in addition to practical reasons (which in my opinion are good reasons, but the weakest) weed should be legal on principle. Who is anyone to tell anyone else what they can't do if its not hurting anyone. So it's selling weed thats hurting people, some might say. So arrest the sellers if you have to arrest someone, but leave the posessers alone.

being intoxicated, high, stoned, etc all impairs judgement. its a proven fact. im not saying that you in particular were impaired and not aware of it. but people do lose judgement w/o being aware of it. people think they are less drunk then they really are and try to drive, and end up on the 5 oclock news. if pot was legalized and more readily availble, im sure you will begin to hear stories of DWS.
