Hey, a few of my friends had trashed ipods. I took them off their hands. One was a gen3 and one a gen4. The gen3 10gb HD was good, but the batt and some other unknown parts were not fuctioning correctly. The gen four had a shot 20gm HD. I opened both up and swaped out the HD connectors to the opposite HD's and reinstalled the gen3 HD to the gen4. Ran restore on the thing and everything works great, and now I have a free ipod. Easy to do, and little skill was involved. Just some fun knowledge.
Oh, and as you guys probably know, the batteries are not the same dimensions, but are swapable.
