Fritschi Freerides on SFB's?

Looking for some opinions here. I'm getting some bacons for my backcountry/powder ski. I have skins for them, and was originally planning on using my BCA-trekker style inserts for touring on them. But would about just mounting them up with Freerides? Also have JP Juliens and Elizabeths.

skip the FR. If you are going with an AT binding this year, the Nx21 is by far the best. Having skied them both....SO MUCH less slop on the Nx21. They are pretty solid.
One thing to consider.....use trekkers this season and get the new Marker Duke AT binding coming out next season. Din 6-16, super beefy. It looks like the first good thing to come out of marker in the past 20 years. It will be the shit.
The JPs would be good BC skis also because they are so light, so maybe mounted those up. Depends which you would rather ski in bounds, the JP or the SFB.
But seriously...dont get FR. Even the FR+ is still sloppy. Nx21!

I was actually thinking about a similar setup. I'm thinking of waiting for the markers, but often AT bindings have problems their first season. We'll see.

I hate these types of decisions. Ok so naxo's over freerides. I have thought about making the JP's a touring ski. The bacons I really want for playing in backcountry pow/booters eric pollard style haha, but not sure if I want to do that on freerides.
I'm thinking I might just rock the securifix this season. But then which bindings?

what are you stats?
If I were you (assuming you want a touring ski & a ski that can ski in bounds and hit booters)....
Mount the JP with Nx21s. Tour on them and enjoy the pow.
Mount the SFB alpine. Ski them in bounds and then use trekkers to get to BC booters with them if you need. you could always boot pack too.
Dont know if you need it, but the best bindings out there are the Sally s916 or the Look P18.
if you don't need a din that high, maybe look into something like the Rossi FKS 155. A older rossi/look with the pivot heal (not the new Px ones) are pretty good as well.

yep pretty much, as for bindings, if you can find them, 914 labs (all metal) would work too if you need a lower din. and the deadbolt are pretty solid too, at least mine (which are actual vists, not the 4frnt version) have held up good, and release very consitently (when im tomahawking/ overrotating jumps). i don't know, i've only had them this year, maybe iggy's skied them more and can tell you what the quirks are with them/ issues.

Only problem with touring on the JP's is my skins are 130mm. Could always size down though. Maybe I'll just trim them for the bacons and use my securifix (like a trekker) for this season, then next season maybe be legit with the JP's. I just hate dedicating a ski to touring by putting a naxo on them. My freind skis Naxos all the time though

you skinny!
FKS 155 or S914 labs would be prefect for you.
Regarding deticating a ski to AT....you are in Utah! I would spent a great deal of time touring if I lived there.
How much BC access are you really going to be doing just to hit booters?
I would go:
Lizzies = park days
SFB mouted with s914 or FKS 155. Maybe cut skins for these, but most booters can probabl be accessed on foot.
JP w/ Nx21. Skins are a alittle big (you would want 120s for the JP) but youll just be cutting a bit off.

There's a S914 Lab with all metal construction? Where the fuck is Salomon hiding that binding?
Mount the JPs as a touring set up, mount the SFBs alpine with a higher-DIN binding, and kill shit that way. I know tons of people who are touring on JPs and love them, but the SFB is too much of a touring question mark right now.

Also, for anyone reading this and thinking "Dude, AT and shit is fun, but I'm not sure I want a setup dedicated to it..." - Go get yourself some trekkers and borrow someones skins. Try your pow ski out with them and then you'll know. For me, I wish I had funds to dedicate a full setup for some AT's, but for now, trekkers are working out.

absolutely.
Sure, you compromise on the way up, but if skinning up is only a means to ensure fresh pow, and you're willing to deal with trekkers, you're not compromising on the way down. Besides, what's the point of a naxo/fritschi set up, other than wasting $400 on bindings, if you're touring less than 5-10 days a year?
