Why the hell do we have finals?

ok, whats the point of finals? um whats up with making one test worth 20% of your average? lets go over the pros and cons of finals...
Cons Pros
1.they suck 1.there are none
2.they count as too much
3.they suck

Any one else think finals should be gotten rid of?

i usually do well on finals, but if you have like a really low A or something, they can screw you over if you mess up.

our finals our crazy... the math ones are worth 40% of the whole year. they cause a lotta stress, but bring my grades up. They do have a point.

our finals were pretty chill this year. my World issues and english were worth UNDER 20% of my final grade somewhere around 15-17% and my economics was worth 40% and I failed that one.. but i still got my dipolma today!!

Personaly I believe my short term memory has been affected but that is the main side effect and I also think maybe my short term memory has been affected.

yea, the tests are pretty easy if you try to pay attention in class.....

i mean, if you're not baked all the time, finals are pretty chill......

i don't smoke, so i don't know what the fuck i'm talking about, but it makes sense to work during school, and go and use the summer for that shit.....

go ski during the winter

Most of my finals at university were worth 60%. And the majority, if you failed the final, you fail the course. Regardless of how things work out.

Before I did my first final i thought it should just be worth like 80% percent thaqt way you wouldnt ever have to work, side from study for thge final, but then i took it and got 61. for me it justs works out better to make a really good impression on the teacher and work adequetly during the year. thankfully my finales are worth only 20% not 50.

bio final was chill cause you could pick the percentage you wanted it to be worth on your grade...after you took the test.

most of mine are worth 30%, but some are worth 50%, so i actually gotta study for those...but if you go to school in ontario you'll agree that the worst are summative evaluations, not exams...

We didnt even have finals this year. We just had projects that were really easy, so now I have a 96, 98, 94, and 90 for my 'finals'

The kids that freak out about finals are so funny. I always study like half an hour for each final. Its good enough for an A- usually.

i just finished my exams so im done the schoolyear until next year now so that pretty cool. i think i might have aced my math exam but im not so sure about my french. its all good though, no use worrying bout it anymore now that im done. peace all

that sucks how all your exams are 50%. Our seniors don't have to take exams as long as they have a b average and didnt skip any classes.

20%? 30%? 50%??

All of mine (UK university) are worth 80% and the other 20% is coursework from throughout the semester. The make it pretty easy for you to pass though: 40% pass mark. And you can take resits over summer if you fail any. You can fail one resit and re-take the class next year, so you really can have 4 shots at it.

Mine went pretty well this year, except Computer Organisation And Design - I gave up studying two night before it because I thought I didn't know shit about it, but the exam actually turned out pretty well so if I had studied hard I could have passed no problem. Oh well, only 2 weeks until results come through.

finals suck. In junior high we could get exempt from all of ours except PAT's....those were the days.
