why do so many people still use them? i mean, i always pick mine up on the way out, out of sheer habit but i do sometimes leave them at the top of a pipe or kicker or something... they just get in the way and im a bit scared of sticking myself! anyone else?
pole planting, executing a good turn, you can spin faster with them, balance in air and on rails, skate skiing, and for general pole fun, clacking(props)
i dont really find a use for poles either unless im skating around. They were always too long and i always bent them. Then i decided to chop 10 inches off them, now theyre real good and dont get in the way
i look at it like this, i play baseball and whenever im throwing batting practice or something and i don't have my glove on and im throwing a baseball it feels wierd to me and i have to put my glove on..its the same thing with poles for me, also poles give you better balance and if your making turns better timing, but i don't think many park-rats really care about carving
skiing without poles is awesome. it's so much fun and i think it makes skiing feel bettter. But sometimes i do feel like a gaper. But ya know, whatever. I like it... AND if any of you havent tried skiing no poles recently, then you have NO ROOM to talk because its soo much fun.
i like no poles.
its fun, but when you have to traverse or its slow... you realize they do have an actual purpose. Honestly though, they dont do much else for me. i dont need them for balance, neither do you. stop pretending.
With poles it seems to mask any flailing or lack of style, which seems a bit weird, but it's true. Only without poles does a persons arm position truly stand out, making it way more style, or way less style. No poles is cool.
