Little problem with the 07 foils [please read]

i was wondering if anyone could help me out. i just bought a pair of the now foils and i simply wanted them center mounted. but of course when i ask the jackasses at my local shop for core center, they laugh at me like im some sort of poser.
anyways, i dont know if hes right but the guy who i mounted my skis with, told me that if i went any further forward, the front screws would be screwing into nothing but the foam core because the mounting plate didnt go that far forward. the last 4 pairs of skis i have bought, have been mistakes because there seems to always be a problem with just getting them in the center for some reason or another, i think its just the fags that work at skjeersaas always trying to tell me that center mount skis like shit anywhere but the park. i literally have to justify why i want center mount to those guys , but they still mount them like 5 cm back every time. i am getting really sick of this and i am just wondering how hard it is for you guys to just get a pair os skis mounted exactly how you want them? so yeah im 5'6" incase you need to know, 130 lbs, some input from anyone would be great on what the hell i should do. im not trying to bitch but im sick and tired of looking like a gaper with no tails!! i also just love the feel of core center you know?, is there anything wrong with that?

heres some pics, can these skis be mounted further forward??
or even better, does anyone know exactly where the front of the mounting plate is?
i really appreciate your help.

wow that makes me view the foils totaly different. i am highly considering getting them. anyways, if possible try and get to know he people at your shop. i am tight with mine so they give me discounts and some free hats. and of course, mount my skis where i want...

PS: how are the foils?

yeah im tight with my shop like that too. i just dont know what there deal is.


PS:other than the fact that i have no tail, they are a really really fun ski, definatly the best salomons ive ever steped into. i regret the fact that i got the 166 though, not a big deal, but the 174 would be a little more my size cuz i like deep pow as well as park. but im only 130lbs so the 166 gets the job done. i just really want to get them remounted at this point.

very common to come across
i remeber asking for center mounting on my PE's 2 years ago and they laughed at me and basicaly told me how stupid i was and then convinced my dad (that doesnt and has never skiied nor snowboarded) that center mounting is horrible...
but this year i found a guy that was a freeskier instead of some burn out snow bum dueche bag that cant admit tehre wrong.... but yeah idunno if i would remount those foils since there so soft already the second holes might make them easy to break

its really not worth remounting unless u ski mostly park, but in the future just put a line on your ski where u want them to be mounted

ive actually been wondering the same thing.

i just got my 06-07 chronics in the mail today, and im taking them to my shop tomorrow to get the mounted. i want them about 2-3 cm back from true, but then i got to thinking, how far back from true center is core center on the chronics? anyone know??

I believe that recommended is core center on the Chrons, but I may be wrong.

My solution: take my skis to a shop that listens to me and understands what I want. Heck, they even helped me measure them out correctly. I love the White Room.

i did that. put i big fat black sharpie line on my t-halls in the center. told the fuckers thats where i wanted them mounted. apparently they felt it was too far forward and decided to mount recommended.

are you kidding me? Thats so rtarded. When i got my t-halls mounted, i basically held my techs hand to make sure he knoew whic way was forward...he mounted my scrathes backwards once...

I hate dumbasses that do shit like that. Why would you be in a shop if you are going to mount them backwards. Did you get a refund and some free stuff cuz your skis were messed up? I'd be pissed.

wtf i have those foils mounted core center and my friend has his at i cm forward from core, wtf, we havent had any problem with ours and we ski almost everyday

This happened to me too. Except they said their deefinition of true center was my definition of core center and they wouldn't do true center (after they mounted my fujas core). But when I'm actually skiing them it's fine, and they're better in the pow, the 1 days of the year I get pow.

u usually get mine mounted by the same guy at the alpine shop. he does a good job and really clears everything up before he starts anything. and i get pretty good deals there. last time this guy goes "do you know anyone that works here?" and i was like no i dont and he goes "are you sure!?" and so i was yeah i guess i do. then he asks if i bought my boots there and i say no again and he questions me again so i rethought my statement.

if you need to take your mom, or dad in with you, but get your money back. If you specifically ask for a service to be done, and your request isn't against their policy, and they agree to do it, but then when you pick up your skis it's not done right, they they owe you at the very least a refund, and hopefully new skis.

This happened to a friend of mine, and luckily i was with him both when he dropped them off, and picked them up. He specifically asked for true center mount, and the service guy agreed to do it. But then when we went to pick them up, they obviously weren't center mounted. The guy got an attitude when my friend asked for his money back, so I said very politely "Would now be a good time to make a scene, or should I wait for a few more customers to walk in?" People think that because you're young that you wont stand up for yourelf, but you shouldn't take shit from someone just because they remember when nixon was in office.

so call me a retard if you must, but where they hell are all of you getting this mystical "core center" measurement on your foils? as far as i can tell, the only ski that has this completely made up point of reference is a k2 ski. k2 put it on their skis because they dont recommend mounting past that point because it drastically affects the way the ski skis. most other companies mounting points are not quite as far back, so mounting at true center is fine. so if you are all so intelligent as to have found this magical line, please tell me how you found it, cause the term "Core center" does not mean anything on any ski besides a k2. if you came into my shop and told me to mount your foils at core center, i would probably look at you with confusion, because such a point does not exist on that ski. there is center, traditional, and in some cases, a modern mounting point like on rossi's skis, and then any number of centimeters forward or back of recommended or true center, but core center is a figment of your imagination, sorry.

to address the point of the foils mounting point, the recommended mount is not that far back from center anyway, and it looks like yours are pretty close to center to begin with. the foils are super light, so swingweight shouldnt be an issue, i'd just keep them where they are. they are going to ski shorter if you mount them forward and you said the ski is a bit short for you anyway.

ive already had that problem with the chronics too haha, they wouldnt go any further forward than the line bindings would have been if you had those. the reason was because they didnt want to take a chance of screwing through the metal inserts already in the skis. so i donno good luck.

+2 means that they are 2 cm forward from the recomended. in my opinion, they are the best mounting spot for the 174 foils. not sure about the 166's but it should be something around that as well

The Foils aren't a true twin are they? Im not too sure, anyways if the tip has a higher and longer profile wouldnt the ski center be a little back from 166cm/2=83cm. Therefore when the skis are standing next to eachother with one upside down the boot center would be different. On a ski that isn't a true twin should the center point not be found by measuring from contact point to contact point and then dividing by 2, rather than just simply dividing the measured legnth? And it seems too me that your 1080's are mounted too forward, more tail than tip

The reccomended point is 5cm back from true center. I like mine somewhere between true center and the reccomended point, if that helps.

i was told the same when i got my ar5's mounted. said he couldn't do center. but he worked it out just fine after i told him thats really what i wanted so i don't know whats up.

i would take them back.

i took my addicts to the shop and since they are symmetrical i told them to mount one facing one way and the other opposite. i got them back and they were both facing the same way. i was a little pissed.

i guess i am lucky. i told my shop to mount my ar6s 3cm back from center but they messed up. so they went and got me a new pair of skis and mounted them where i told them. more shops should act like that.

you know i think i figured out somthing, part of the reason im having this problem alot is because i have a big foot size for how long of skis i buy. so mabye most of the kids who have the 166s, have the toe piece in the same spot as mine, but with smaller feet, the heel piece would be further up, making them more reasonably mounted. so i just need to buy longer skis peroid. and it seems like, the bigger boot you have, the longer the skis you can handle, despite your heighth, is this true? kinda hard to explain haha sorry if its confusing.
