Don't base your decision on this, but it's my understanding that it doesn't affect you all too much. Beats the hell out of a D or F, and it doesn't change your GPA.

that's my logic too. i asked a counselor if they could just go ahead and remove it, (i had a wonderful backstory) so hopefully that works, but it's better than waking up for a class that i fall asleep in anyways.

it's a withdraw, it doesn't matter, people withdraw for many reasons.

withdrawing from the course, same as droping, only it's past the drop deadline so you have to withdraw with a sig from the teacher usually.

I got two "W"s in high school. They were both for transfering to a different class. I don't really think they are seen as a negative thing at all.

In university, you wont be able to get into medical school with a W(at least in US and Canada). It also hinders your probability of being accepted into an honours program and a graduate degree.

I doubt you won't get in to med school because you got a W in Psych 102 or something. If you get a W in a pre med requirement it might be harder but it probably won't be that much harder.

yeah if you have above a 3.7+ and a w i gurantee you could get into med school, law school, or grad school. people withdraw for a lot of reasons, and they wont punish you for it.

i have a W in this crazy hard business class and as long as you make it up and complete it you should be fine. i dont really plan on going to grad school or transferring school so the W doesnt affect me that much

that being said, you never know how a W on your transcript will affect your future - be in grad school or employment. Often if your transcript is requested for a competetive job or program, they WILL ask about your W if you have one - mostly why you withdrew and what you did instead (to make it up or otherwise). In general, at least at my college (Dartmouth) a W is not good to have.
Just get your shit together, be responsible, and fuckin drop classes before the deadline - at most colleges you have at least 2 or 3 weeks at the beginning of each term to do so.

Not in UBC, Dalhousie, Mcgill, U of T for sure. In Dalhousie you dont even get in if at one point you took only 4 classes in a semester, people don't understand how competitive med school is.

it definitely doesnt look great, i think it looks pretty bad actually. i wouldnt do it unless its the only choice besides a D or F in the class i think
All times are Eastern (-5)
