Fuck my parents suck, NS i need your help

somehow my parents heard through the grapevine that i was smoking weed. im not sure how they found out cuz they wont tell me how they know. they didnt have any hard evidence or anything but basically they asked me about it and i confirmed that yes i smoke weed occasionally (if i denied it they were gonna get me tested). I started this year (im a senior) and only on weekends maybe 1-2 times a month. I have good grades (3.8, actually better than previous years) and i got accepted to college. basically im not a bad kid, i havent gotten into trouble that much. anyways they decided that as punishment they were going to take away my ski trip in march with my buddies from school. we always go to colorado for spring break and it has been a tradition since 8th grade. this year we were gonna road trip down with no parents for our senior trip. I voluntarily surrendered my bowl to show that i was on their side. today i asked them if they could possibly change my punishment to taking away my car or computer or something because it would still have a dramatic effect on me and it would be a fitting punishment without effecting my good friends who essentially did nothing but are still getting punished because i wont be with them. My parents didnt even listen to me, they just gave me some bs that my trip was the only thing they could take to get my attention blah blah basically a big fuck you we dont care about your friends... NOW, NS im asking you for advice what can i do that will get them to realize that theyre making a mistake by taking away my ski trip. this thread isnt a complaint about how lifes not fair or whatever. I realize that i fucked up and shouldnt have risked smoking in the first place cuz you can argue weed isnt a bad thing all day long but at the end of the day its still illegal and people still go to jail for it. in that sense it was dumb for me to start smoking. anyways if you read all that and still feel like helping me out id love to hear some ideas. thanks.

you have a good handle on your life, dont beg them because it will just help them get it set in their mind that its a good punishment and that they dont want you to go. thats what my parents do, the more i beg the more they get set that thats what they want.

Ahhh, fuckin high school...that's one of the reasons I'm glad I'm in college now. No shit like that to deal with. But anyhow, you seem not to care about not smoking anymore, so just don't do that and behave well until a couple of weeks before the trip. Don't get all pissed and bitchy with them, just be a fairly good kid, and then a couple weeks beforehand ask them if they'll let you go. If they still say no cock slap them both and take off.

dude your friends will probably have a better time without you

but anyways, i recommend playin it cool for now, accept whatever they say for as long as you can and let em cool down, done even ask em to change it, but after maybe a month, if you can wait long to plan the trip maybe say something, cause you have 10 times the chance of them hanging their mind once its been a month and theyre completely cooled down

anyways if they just found out today give it some time to sit. approach them say 2 weeks from now after theyve settled down a little. approach them sympathetically like you know you fucked up and you want mercy. asking for hteir mercy might even help you

no dude, its actually probly not a bad idea, cuz my mom straight up admitted that shes done it before, and most of our parents probly have. just point out that even though you smoke weed, you did the right thing, you told them the truth, tell the, that you have never drove drunk or high, and youve been responsible. also, bring up the fact that you are a good kid, and that you dont do anything that bad, your grades are good, ect. also, the idea of letting the situation cool down is a good idea

dude welcome to my life. AS long as you have your shit stright (school, ect.)smokin a lil' bud will never harm you. Unfortunatley your parents will never agree with that, so just dont blaze and they should let you go. Your a senior in high school, you might even be a legal adult, there is not that much control your parents really have anymore.

Dude... it's your senior year, just GO! Think about it, they've already taken away the most important thing to you, and you've proven that you're more than willing to give up your computer or car in place of it... so if you blow them off and go anyways, what's the worst that could happen? You come back and they take away your computer or the car. All you're doing is deciding which punishment they give you.

If it were any other year, this would be a terrible idea. However, being your senior year and all, it doesn't really matter. You don't have too much time left, so whatever shit they put you through is doable.

yea but if you have parents who CLEARLY havent. like my parents are so unbelievably square...my mom has never once in her life been drunk or been to a decent party (she was a loser in highschool and didnt go to college). my dad has been drunk like once and was also a loser in highschool. he took computer engineering in mcgill (not the greatest for pickin up chicks) and he'd rather die than do something illegal

yeah my parents were like that when they found out... i just kept it under wraps for a while and worked out alot got in good shape and did well in school then when they caught me again a year later they were like why are you starting this again... you were doing so well.. and i was like "again?, I never stopped" i got in good shape and did well in school while smoking on weekends" and the I asked what they knew about weed that was bad and told them i have a study that proves otherwise... and they still get pissed about it but they dont punish me cause they know it wont do anything and that im at the point now where i like having my parents to help me out but i could be self sufficient if i wanted, so they know if they try to change my lifestyle i will just leave... it depends how old you are... but they will accept that its part of your life if you give them time and dont rub blazing in thier faces.

The other way to do it is the good old Overpower manuever. Basically you force your parents to realize they have no power over you. It can only be used a few times, but it gets amazing results. Here is the speech pretty much word for word:

"Look, I really don't want to cause a lot of trouble so soon before I go to school. Honestly, I really enjoy being with my family and I'd really like my last few months at home to be as happy and drama-free as possible. For that reason, I've done everything I can to make things around here pleasant for both you, and me. I have a 3.8 GPA, I try and do things you tell me quickly and effectively, and even though I don't agree with all the rules you set forth, I stick to them with pretty minimal argument.

That being said, I really don't have to do all that. I could go on this trip whether or not you want me to or not, and when I get back, what are you going to do? Ground me? I can just leave again. That's not something I want to do because I'd hate to make the last time I'm really going to be 'at home' depressing and stressful, but mom and dad, this is the most important thing in the world to me. I look forward to this more than anything each year.

I messed up, I understand that. There are a lot of things you can do to make me understand that and change my behavior. All this is doing is pissing me off and making me more rebellious, so that I'm even more likely to do it again. Don't make these months harder than they should be."

I used that exact same thing, happened to have it on my computer because a friend wanted to use it haha, so I changed around the wording. You are now a nuclear power.

my friend has a mom who if he is spending the ngiht she will call my parents and tell them to check up on us every hour and make sure we go to bed at 10 and she used to smoke weed and do all kidns of drugs and goes bizerk every time she finds out her son is smoking even tho this kid is by far the biggest stoner i know and i smoke almost everyday
do you know if your parents had drug problems and got busted for? cus i have another freidn who got sent to rehab for smoking weed but then started doing all osrts of drugs that are actualy bad idunno basicaly if parents are flipping out that much they have to have a history with drugs or just be completly ignorant. Like my dad for example he smokes weed time to time but my mom doesnt and only has once supposivley but she still doesnt even care much all i can say is your parents are overreacting way to much so you should show them facts and stuff about weed and how much beter it is than tobacoo and alchohal but if i was you i would start popping ritalin and adderall to test for meth and speed and get them to test me and make sure i was clean of weed and when they confront you just be like "well i couldnt smoke weed so i started doing meth and speed becuase it possibly couldnt be worse then weed the way you guys reacted to it" but thats just me and i dont really make the best decisions

ive got caught smoking on multiple occasions. I always just talk to my parents about them growing up in the 60's. if you parents grew up in the 60's or 70's and had any sort of normal life i can almost guarantee that tehy smoke. poor choice on surrenduring your bowl however, to parents, owning a bowl just proves to them that u r a pothead (even if your not). Even if your parents wont admit it tehy have smoked before. just be like, "c'mon, havn't u ever smoked weed before?" Everything will fall into place and it'll be a happy universe again.

Tell them this. Your not about to use up the prime of your life going to school if the fun parts are taken out and that you aren't going to college without going on that trip and that it means alot to you, and doing this only proves that they don't understand that. At a senoir in high school you are a man, you should be able to make your own decisions in life. You just chose a poor one.

Uhm... you can get arrested, but whose parents would actually do that to their own kid? My friend Collin actually flew out to Montana to visit me in college the day before he was supposed to fly to Florida with his mom for Thanksgiving completely without her knowledge and, as you can imagine, she was fucking pissed... but no cops.

In any case, that's not really the point. You don't want to go without their consent unless you absolutely have to, the key is to make them realize that you can, and then they'll give you what you want so they don't have to deal with it.

I feel like if you have even somewhat normal parents you're set. Mine are pretty crazy and overprotective, and I've pulled some pretty stupid shit with them, and I haven't seen a single cop they've called in.

Eh, that shit's never worked for me... even without evidence. All it ends up doing is pissing them off. Even if I did get out of trouble, they'd stick me on hardcore surveillance until they did figure something out. Best thing to do is admit to a little so they think you're being honest.

How can your parents stop you from going on a road trip? That doesn't make any sense.

Unless they're paying for it.. because if you have a car and money and skis your set to go, you don't really need their aaproval. Explain to them that you're old enough to know what you're doing now.

I don't know who your parents are, but that wouldn't work for a damn second with my parents. If I live under their roof, and they're paying for my food and shelter, they can stop me from doing whatever they want... I mean he's going on a road trip with his buddies without parental supervision, if it were ym parents they'd be pretty skeptical. Fortunately my parents eventually just stopped caring, if I told them I was going to Canada they just told me to make sure I didn't drink and drive, shit like that.

DO NOT USE THE OVERPOWER METHOD IF YOUR PARENTS FINANCIALLY SUPPORT YOU.

ie. they're paying for your school, car, gas, insurance, skiing/whatever. Then you will be mad fucked because the actually can do something against you.

That being said, just be the perfect child and rub in how perfect you are till you go. Do random acts like clean the house or make the family dinner before they get home. Then they'll feel like dicks if they still are like "fuck you and your friends."

I'd use it either way, he's already shown he's willing to take pretty much any other punishment in place of losing his ski trip, and you parents aren't going to completely cut you off, you're their child...

Being super nice works sometimes, it really depends on the parents... sometimes I could pull it off, but parents are fed a lot of bullshit about how they need to stick to punishments for them to be effective so sometimes they won't change anything... in my opinion the mere threat of getting owned that hard is way more helpful in changing my behavior than them actually carrying it out, because if I actually do get railed then it just pisses me off so I continue doing it... if they show what they can do and then back off with that lingering in the back of your mind if you get caught again... ouch.
