I dont know the words, but when you take the brake off, that plastic thing, like the pad, needs to go back on. I took the actual brakes off(steel wire stuff) off of my salomons, and mounted, and it worked fine. As lond as that plastic thing your heel rests on is there, it shouldnt matter if the brake itsself is inside of it..

sorry i guess that did sound kind of stupid. but i guess what i'm trying to say is that i was under the impression that the plastic part on the top of the brake is needed to help hold the boot in, but maybe not?

exactly. With out that plastic pad, your boot will sit about 9 mm lower, and the bindnig wont hold oyu in.

i think on my old pivoting looks on my urbans I have the whole plastic thing off, I'll check when I get a chance though maybe not... but dont ride at a resort without brakes that's a pretty asshole thing to do considering that you are endangering everyone around you because you wont shell out like 30 bucks for some breaks.
