I am riding the Dumonts this year and they are pretty sick. I previously had PE's and ARV's and I find the Dumonts stiffer than those 2 but also much lighter.
The Foils and the Dumonts are similar ski's, but the Dumonts have a wood core, so if you can definitely pick up the Dumonts.
dude go with foils. wilder and more solid for outside of the park, yet still a very sick park ski. dumonts are wood core and pretty flimsy and skinny. i'd only get dumonts as an only park ski.
I think you have it backwards. Foils are soft, filmsy, and wipe out all the time on offtrail stuff. Dumonts are stiffer, and have a stronger core, thus making them more versitile.
but I agree with the guy up there, Armadas would be an even sicker choice.
Thank you actually someone who knows what they are talking about the foil is pretty sick but its a little soft and pretty wide...since when do we want to be jibbing on a race side cut.........................but dont get me wrong they are sick skis...Ive tried both Foils and Dumonts and Dumonts are better...o yeah and i have a pair and their dope
armada is a wanna be ski there soft like a noodle and cant handle shit i dont care who they sponsor they are not that good you all just get caught up in the marketing and wow did they do a good job
I just got the dumont's and have ridden on them the past couple days. Their pretty stiff and super snappy. They stomp landings very nicely and just make for an all around dope ski experience. I've got the 181 length, but i'm guessing the 176 is just as sick.
well you said some pow, so I'm gonna assume 70% park and 30% pow, ARV's would be pretty good for that, AR6's and T-Halls are definitely more park oriented although I have AR5's and I like 'em alot.
If you like the dumonts though go with them, they are pretty sick
Ive got the dumonts too, redicoulous in the park, but absolute shit other than park or groomed runs, There is no way to explain how shitty they are everywhere else.
I liked the foils, but never tried the dumonts. As far as armadas go the ar5's and arv's arent bad but the thall is so soft unless the only thing you do is butter, they suck.
foils own the dumonts. if you want a ski for strictly park get the dumont. otherwise, get the foil. by no means is it a slouch in the park and it's wide enough to ski everywhere and not only manage pow, but have a damn good time. get the foil for sure.
No if you ski alota pow go for a POWDER ski......well back to the forum topic the ARV or AR6 would do for you man, Why go against wood, it is proven! Foam and spaceframe breaks down much faster than wood.
In Push, i noticed that carlson had dumonts for like his whole part, and dumont had them for most of his park skiing. Funny that carlson rode dumonts more than dumont did in that movie
The foils are probably second best all around freestyle ski on the market after the Volkl Karma. They ski everywhere well so if you're going to have only one ski for everything go with the foils.
I'd have to disagree, the dumonts are such an epic park ski i've dicided the dumonts are one of the sickest to grace my feet. Nice and stiff and super snappy, its all about that wood core. the foils are only a few mm wider underfoot, so the demensions difference is small, but just think of how much longer they will stay snappy and responsive with that wood core. I've never skied the foils, so they may be the chron and i just don't know, but i doubt they're as high quality as the dumonts, constructed in the lab.
I have dumonts and 4front msps do not buy dumonts if you want to ride them outside the park. They destroy groomers and park but if there are any bumps what so ever your shins and knees will feel like you fucked sopranos wife, buy the msp for all mountain not as good in the park. but ridable anywhere
i have to disagree with you... the karma's are deffinitely a wicked sick ski and are at the top of that list but foils are way down on that list. The armada ar5-ar6 is a wicked nasty do everything ski. it is stiff enough to ski groomers, now wide enough to get float in the occasional pow as he said, and sick for park
