What does camber do for skis?
I know having reverse Camber will help in pow. but what would happen if a ski lost its camber, will it eventually just break, have worse control or what? I have fujas and they still have lots of camber after 7 days and I hear people always saying that they have non after 10 days.

a ski will never turn straight unless you cut it. camber is the slight u shape in the ski on both sides. and even if im wrong, how could a ski lose camber?

What?!? I think you're mistaking camber with sidcut.

If a ski loses it's camber, then it will not hold an edge quite as well. Camber also helps when you're coming out of turns.

it waht keepts the nose of your ski(not the shovel) down on the snow. and gives your ski its flex pop butter and shit so its important

Look at a ski from the side. Notice that it bends down by the tips; thats camber. It allows the edges to dig in easier if i recall

Sorry, didn't finish. When coming out of turns, the camber in a ski will help you come out of a turn with more speed and power. It's not that pronounced, but it does affect it when you come out of turns.

pretty well put.

a ski can lose its camber as the core gradually breaks down under the stress of lots of microfractures.
The ski will become less responsive in turns and lose its pop.
or worse, you can "bend" a ski and not know it. it loses camber at a specific point. best way to tell is by putting the skis base to base and compressing them. If one tip or tail flexes away from the other, ur ski is bent.

how do you know if your ski has lost its camber? if it sits flat when it lies on the ground without you on it? (as opposed to the binding being off the ground)

yeah, if you lay the ski (or board for that matter..) on the ground, there should be like 5-10 mm (give or take) between the base at the ski's waist and the ground. The more you put pressure on the ski, the quicker it will lose its camber... so I guess stiffer skis keep the camber longer.. carbon fibre also helps.

If you put your skis together and without touching them they stay laying flat on each other, like my ar5s do after 3 years.
