It's all personal preference.
It really comes down to personal preference though, one isn't better then the other, and anyone who says that one is is just ignorant.
The only advantage macs might have is they are much less susceptible to virus attacks, but a pc set up properly can be the same.

no offence but are you fucking stupid? you could build a mac and a pc out of the same of very simmilar components but the difference in softwhere is what sets the two apart. Macs tend to have the upper hand on softwear. Features like dashboard and expose make navigating threw programs much easyer on a mac. Also some new features that are coming with the new leopard will blow away any improvements that windows have. Thats not to say that pc's are total pieces. They do have the advantage when it comes to gaming, and its a huge advantage. Also your parcially right, windows now has similar features as macs. I say similarn because they are basicly copy's of what mac did and there coming about 2 years later.
Right now im sticking with mac, but they are stating to make fuck ups so we'll have to see where they go in the near future

You've been able to right click on macs for like 10 years now, its just that the mice they sell only had one button. As of like last year I'm pretty sure the mighty mouse (can right click) has come standard.

anyway i've had 2 button mice on my macs since like 1998, and thats cause its when i started playing warcraft

I'm too busy enjoying my mac to make comments in this thread. I'll just say that I have been using pcs for 15 years and macs for 1 month. I will NEVER go back. You can now do everything on a mac you can on a pc (a la boot camp). plus all the things that make a mac better. Apple is the future.Â

i would first like to say that the only person in this thread that would proaly know what he is talking about is the game degisiner.
that being said i have a few things to say. before i say them though, know that i am cisco level 3 certified and a+ certified.
i own a desktop pc and a mac lap top.
i was a beta tester for vista and it is nothing like tiger from a programing standpoint. it is a much much much more eficent operateing system. its like compareing an excursion to a honda civic. tiger being the excursion and vista is the civic. there are so many back processes that have been gotten rid of and it runs super smouth. dont believe what the APPLE forms say kids. if it had that many flaws microsoft would not be releseing it. and for those of you that are worshiping lepoard. i hope you have at least 2 gigs of ram. you WILL need it, otherwise youre gonna have mad lag problems because that program is like a bowl of spagetti with all the back procesess it has.
from a hardware standpoint apple is a rip off. they charge 100 bucks for a stick of ram that costs 10 for pc. sure they have unique ideas but honestly its not like the isight camera was revolutionary. how long have web cams been around kids? pc's run faster than the macs do because the front side bus speed on macs is rediculously low. like 800 mhz i think for the g5 i mac, lower for older ones. i think the new g5 dual core station is right at 1000 mhz. while the athlon 64 runs at 2000mhz for the base model. i might add that the core duo isnt anything special. i could go into it but i would lose you more than i have already.
bottom line is with a mac you are mostly paying for a name. i love my laptop, but i got it because of it's size not its features. for what i paid i could have got a lot nicer falcon or alien ware.

here is a quick cost comparison. my computer that i am on currently is rocking this:
3.2 ghz pentium extreme edition
4 gigs dual channel, over clocked ram
2 x 300 gig sata 3.0 Hard drives
7.1 suround sound card
512 mb graphics card
2x 16x16x32 light scribe dvd drives
it is also in a totaly custom case with lighting and such.
it cost about 1900
the same thing from apple and not as cool looking is gonna be about 5 grand. and the processor is not as good.

I believe you are talking through your ass about processors. You are trying to carry over knowledge about software to make us think you know something about hardware. How is the core processor line 'nothing special'? I currently own 3 computers, a p4, an athlon x2 and a mac with a core 2. The core 2 duo (and extreme) are the most effective processors on the market. They commonly trounce athlons and p4s. I didn't want to admit it because I am a huge AMD fan, bt intel has stepped up their game and they are once again, rightfully so, on top of the processor market.

woop-dee-fucking-doo. you built yourself a computer. Do you realize how small the personal built computer market is compared to the share that shitty companies like dell have? Sure, you can build something for cheaper, but when it comes to buying pre-made items, apple rules the market. You're making an unfair comparison of apples and oranges.
In the end, apple computers will end up ruling the market. They are easier to use, have a much shorter learning curve, and Apple has been very good about customer service, like teaching you how to use your new Mac.
As for your beta testing Vista - good for you, i tested it too, and guess what, all i found were flaws. Yes, that's right, flaws. Vista is NOT going to be any better than any of the previous Windows releases. As for Leopard, i know so little about it it isnt even funny, but as it is, OSX is the best OS available, hands down.
Nice try with the compunerd lingo im sure you thought would just lose everyone, but when facts come to facts, apple is the best.

exactly!^ it seems to me, that people who really understand computers and everything understand that. its just such a stereotype that macs are the only way to go for stuff like media editing and such, and it isnt true. sure, macs are good, but not any better than a comparable PC. the way i see it, Macs= a pair of Oakley sunglasses for 250, and PCs equal some decent 30 dollar shades. both do the same thing, both look just as good, you just pay ALOT more for a small logo, and the brand association.

i just wanted to make a comment about this. That doesn't mean jack shit. My brother worked FOR cisco, and has a masters in software architecture. He was looking at getting a new laptop, and wanted to get a mac, but because of the fucking stigma that people like you perpetuate, he couldnt, as he wouldnt be taken seriously in the tech world. He is seriously one of the best programmers and smartest person you will meet, so dont try to toss shit like that, that any 14 yr old could read up on and pass, because it really doesnt mean anything.

i like it when people say that macs are faster than pcs. from a technicle standpoint they both have the same hardware, and even processors now, the only major differances are the cases and operating systems, which can now both operate well on each system so for mac all your paying for is the brand name. the best option is to just build your own pc that runs both osx and windows.

i use PC. i use macs a lot at school. i just cant stand the layout, cant find my files as easily as i can on my a PC, i especially hate the dash board or whatever you call it, why not just make desktop short cuts? when im browsing the internet on safari its impossile to make the window full screen, google earth is a lot easier to use on a windows PC, Mac people keep telling me that there are mac PCs with a right click, but i honestly have never seen one. Widgets just dont impress me, i had them on my computer through Opera, didnt change my life.
that might seem like a shitty argument, but everything i want my PC to do, it does without any problems. im not switching anytime soon.
