Tahoe City, CA… The Toyota Sick n’ Twisted Freestyle Series had crowds cheering and competitors putting it all on the line once again on Saturday at Alpine Meadows. More than 75 riders came from all over California and Nevada to test their skills on a 40-foot Big Air jump specially built by the Alpine Meadows’ Park Crew.
At the end of two runs it was Ohio native Mary Sallah, 18, who took home a first place check for $300 in the Women’s Open Division for a perfectly executed 720. Sallah was closely followed by Reno rider Ali Agee, 17, and Carmel local Brita Sigourney, 16.
In the Men’s Open Ski Division the competition was so tight the judges were forced to award two first place checks of $400 to Mammoth rider Sean Logan, 20, and Reno rider David Wise, 16, and two second place checks of $150 to Mammoth rider Bernard Rosow, 25, and Truckee local Davis Souza, 18.
In the Men’s Open Snowboard Division Mammoth rider Douglas Mercer, 29, took home first place and a check for $500, followed by San Ramon rider John Foy, 24, in second and Truckee local Taylor Carlton, 20, in third.
In the Amateur Men’s Ski Division Dylan Curry, 17, from Truckee took home first place and a brand new pair of Line Skis. In the Amateur Men’s Snowboard Division Matthew Austin Ettl, 24, from Grass Valley walked away with first place and new Bataleon snowboard. Both prizes were courtesy of event sponsors.
