I like to ski park about half the time but the other half I spend skiing off-piste, backcountry sort of terrain. I want a boot that is comfortable and responsive.

go to a bootfitter, they can figure it out based on what fits you, which probably won't be the popular boot on here (spks, which are not good for backcountry and hard to fit correctly.)

Out of those 3 claims, only 1 is true: Go visit a shop that knows its boots and has good bootfitters.

i only made one claim, that SPKs are overrated.

which is an opinion, so there's no true or false about it. and after having skied in them, i find that they don't ski all mountain very well, and i don't even like them in the park that much cause they have very little foreward knee, though they were comfy walking back to the salomon tent.

the best boot in the world may not fit you, so it's useless to ask about it unless you've tried some on.

Yeah.. The best way to get a boot is to go a local shop that knows their stuff and try on a bunch of boots. Whatever boot fits the best is the one for you. Going in looking for a specific boot can be a bad idea sometimes.
