Snowboarders have been better than skiing anyways for the last two years. It really hasnt been since the days of Candide and CR battling for supremacy that we've seen the raw amplitude and style that made it a lot of fun to watch. Meh, let them have it this year, we'll take it back if all goes well (that meaning - Candide competes instead of hurting himself in practice, Jon is at the top of his game and Simon dares to boost out over the height meter).

The day ppl start going over the height meter is the day that the sport has gotten pushed so far that ppl start dieing.

last year skiers went bigger then any of the snowboards. That's Not arguable.
It's the switch combo's and technicality that snowboarders have the advantage. Since they call pull it off, boosting that big on skis switch is ALOT harder, and pulling together switch to regular to switch linked tricks that are smooth and huge are more difficult on skis, but it will happen.
You just what and see.

Hopefully Ski Slopestyle doesn't get fucked over again.

well snowboarding is more popular and more exposed (especially after the olympics) so it makes sense. Not to mention probably most of the people running the gig were clueless when people like andreas and laurent were going "backwards" in the pipe

uhhhh ok then unfortunatly for your post skiiers are going bigger than they where in the days of CR and Candides hits and the style has improved sooo much. Halfpipe is one of the few things skiing owns snowboarding at

Is Laurent Favre even doing it? I thought i heard in an interview that he isn't gonna compete, he would make Ski superpipe sick...

I remember reading a thread last year and it showed that the measuring pole wasn't right. It started at about 3 feet and didn't incease by a full foot or something. Nonetheless, it doesn't really matter how high he went exactly, he boosted.

that was a big deal because they were going like 5-8 feet higher than anyone else. now everyone is pretty much doing the same shit. the snowboard halfpipe event was probably a bit more suspenseful. also, the judges gave the gold to someone who really deserved it, instead of fucking simon and laurant.

Candide's first hit two years ago was at least 20, I think it was 23 if I remember. But yes, the fact is that snowboarding has caught up to skiing in terms of amplitude, and more people snowboard, simply put. Skiing's only really going to be interesting to mass viewers once people start doing both double inverts in the pipe and some switch pipe runs, Lolo style.

are skiiers doing back to back tens in their runs like kass? sure we boost higher cuz we get more speed but snowboarders are throwing better tricks.

its hard for skiers to do back to back 10s cuz the second one would have to be switch and that would be rediculous, maybe 9 to 10, butr 10 10 is crazy and i dont think they could boost high enough

the fact that hatveit went 17 feet out on a switch downhill 7 makes skiing inhead of snowboarding in halfpipe..........

Ya think?
For sure skiers are going bigger but....
1- Snowboarders are grabbing 1260s (Brad Martin this year at Grand Prix)
2- Shawn has at least 3 different 1080s that he do in one run and on a good day he can grab all of them.
3- Michalchuk was doing frontside double linked to backside double in back in 2002
In skiing....Last year at X Games, Dumont was on the podium with a run of 5 hits of which only 2 of them were grabbed, Tanners winning X Games run only had 2 decent grabs and one sketchy grab in a 5 hit run.
Not to put those guys down, but in snowboarding doing a 9 without a grab wouldn't get you very far, whereas in skiing it can still put you on the podium.
So... I don't think we're ready to start claiming that skiing "owns" snowboarding just yet.

yea but when people grind on skis it looks way cooler than snowboards and is in my opinion a lot harder...and when your on a snowboard you cant really tell if they are riding switch unless you know them
