if allowing thousands of east coast kids to have fun on the shittiest mountains with no snow is wrecking skiing, then yes

Agreed, like I said, I love rails.
I just took offence to the guy who's point seemed to be: "all skiing and it's roots, except for what I do, is gay"

i wouldnt go that far. id rather see a steezed out snowboarder nosegrind than a skier nose grind. why? skiers have to stick their asses into the air.

definantly not... it was one of those things thats bound to happen, weve followed trend with snowboarding like crazy, with clothes and shit it just makes it more interesting, more to do, more shit to get better at but at the same time people are pulling crazy shit and i think it looks a lot sicker to just be super smooth with it instead of like doing "switch 270, 360 bs switch up 450 out" shit on like a 10 foot rail like make it look good not just difficult

ever heard of breaking your paragraphs up into sentences?
rails are harder than anything you can think of? i don't think so, i've seen videos on here of kids who can't ski for shit, can't throw a 5, but can switch 270 on switchup pretzel 270 out. i think jumps are harder to get good at, and take more balls too.

I love rails. I would just rather see people putting more style in the them. Rather, than just doing a lot of switch ups. we need to get more inventive. example. at my home mountian i saw TJ Schiller do a hand plant to pull him self onto a kink rail..

i think skiers look better on rails than most snowbaorders. most snow boarders just ride straight on and do a 50/50. LAME

Of course not. They bring so much to the sport. They are half the reason why i ski, the other half being ramps/pipe

well nobody is forcing people to do rails. so if you think its ruining the sport jus stay in the woods and do pow i guess. skiing can never be ruined ne ways

calling a rail jam skiing is false. there is no skiing involved. skiing is skiing through the woods, carving, or even going through a park. someone could never touch a resort and be able to 'ski' rails.
some could argue that yes they do wreck skiing. i dont like rails cuz i cant do them and they can get played but i guess they dont wreck skiing. someone could def make a good argument saying that they do though

I enjoy a good rail, but would prefer a sick step up or a powder day.

To whoever started this thread... saying that rails are wrecking skiing is first of all, ignorant. BUT regardless, think of this question...
How many people said that twin tipped skis were "wrecking" skiing when they came out? And look where the sport of freestyle skiing is today! Case and point.

compared to hidden rocks, rails do nothing to skis. I ski park all season, then I have some powder days, and I go home with 2 core shots and in need of a shit load of ptex.
rails were the natural progression of freestlye skiing, following the snowboarders who were following the skateboarders. I do find "urban skiing" a little bit ridiculous, but I do it anyway cause its a fun thing to do when theres snow and you cant get to the mountains. I'd like so see more events that make skiers push their boundries in all aspects of skiing, not just double kink rails with insance combo's. Thats why I thouht the K2 back 9 was so cool.
