Flash for my camera

I need a bigger flash for my camera that I can attach to a stand or have it hand held. The camera is a nikon.

Sorry I didn't mention I was looking for some reviews on them too like if you've used them before let me know how they worked or any flaws. That sort of thing.

well, i don't think you could go wrong with any one of them. it really depends on your needs. the trick is learning how to use them, and that's hard. i'm looking into getting the sigma unit for my canon, i'll let you know whenever i get it. off the bat though, i can tell you that the sigma flash has poorer (not by much) construction quality than any of the nikon or canon flashes. but they are definitely just as good power and feature wise, not to mention significantly cheaper.

i have a sb-600 and i love it..can be mount on camera or on tripod and can flash without cables

get the sb-600 or sb-800, they are the two best nikon makes plus if you have a newer nikon digital its probably got the wireless built in so you don't need a pc chord to attach. otherwise the pc chord isn't a big deal. and i think if you wanted to you can get the wireless transmiter for $70.

get ebay slaves which are a wireless wave sent off from the hotshoe of the camera which is the transmitter to the reciever hooked onto the flash. This allows you to shoot wirelessly.

For a flash i would suggest a Vivitar 285HV. It is safe to use on your d50, cheaper than the 600,800 and is very solid.

Might be worth your while to get a flash diffuser too. Softens the flash so it's not so harsh.

the d50 is kind of the older model digital camera, it didn't come with wireless. you will need to buy a transmitter or deal with slaves, but if you use an on camera flash then you will have to deal with direct lighting along with the slaves (wherever you place them) its not a bad thing but you won't get that side flash effect (or at least as much)

With Nikon's transmitter, I believe you can have up to 3 flashes set up.

Fuck man this is how to do it!

Go to www.bhphotovideo.com and order 2x Pocket Wizard Plus II tranceivers.
Go to www.ebay.com or www.keh.com and look for a used SB-24, SB-26 or SB-28 flash

The Pocket wizards are 188.95 each, and the flash is about 60-80 bucks or something. And you are Set.

And buy a light meter aswell
