i'm stuck with a 10 hour layover at SEA in a few days. anyone know if there's a bar or aquarium or the ocean or anything cool within walking distance so i'm not sitting around in some damn terminal all day? thanks.
well seatac is in seatac/burien, which is not a rad place at all (shithole perhaps?). but if you have 10 hours, you could get into seattle which is like 15 minutes away, and there is pretty much anything you want tho kill time there
Nothing within walking distance, but we have an awesome bus system.
Take a bus to downtown, there's plenty to do there in 10 hours, we have an awesome aquarium down on the water front, some cool shops down there, good restaurants, Pike Place Market is just up from there, Seattle Center, the Science Center, Imax, Space Needle, Belltown for bars, etc. You can walk all over downtown, everything's pretty close.
Go to transit.metrokc.gov to look for busses, it has a very good trip planner to help you out.
fuck, dude if you have ten hours, get up to snoqualmie! that would be the best layover ever.
you probably wont have skiis though so you should just head downtown and eat at ivars, then go check the aquarium, i loved that place as a kid and i can imagine how dope it would be on mushrooms.
last time i was in seatac i dropped six hits of acid in the security line, but i dont recommend that.
if you're here saturday, you can come downtown and tailgate at seahawks stadium, all the bars in pioneer square are pretty fun too, and are right downtown.
thanks guys -- i wish the skiing layover was an option, but the timing just doesn't work. i'm not really in to the city scene, but seattle sounds cool and i look forward to checking it all out.
No, we really dont. Metro is really an awful bus system to use compared to other systems I've used around the world. Very hard to use initially. And compared to other cities, like Melbourne, our public transport is laughable.
Eh, I dont know if I would agree to the last part still. Seattle is hard to compare to other cities of similar populations because of its intense density (we're something like 45% more dense in downtown than Portland). Still, I think we can all agree that Seattle needs more transit options. Fucking monorail.
dont hate! for some people right now the bus system will have to suffice. *ahem** honestly its nice in theory, economically and enviromentally sound. but fuck dudes, there are sooo many creepers on it, alllll the time. maybe its cuz im a girl and from montana. but i dunno, i get around alright.
^ dude i dont know, we all thought it was a spider bite/s at first. then it was like something way serious, i think those are pretty painful. i felt bad for him. hes such a nice dude.
okay so on that same thought of going off the aurora bridge, i was on the bus coming back from shoreline and this fuckin crazy lady sits down next to me and starts telling me everything in her life! yada yada yada 20 minutes later she tells me how her friend committed suicide by jumping off the aurora bridge. i was like whoa lady! shit that sucks. then she asked my about my astrological sign, it was a crazy conversation. gotta love sea-town.
that's what i love about crazy seattle people, they're usually pretty nice, same with the bums, usually not too bad. actually me and my friends have met spoonman if any of you have heard that soundgarden song, he's a real bum.
You guys want a real eclectic group of folks, go ride the bus on vashon.
I got to know all the regulars on that bus pretty good my summer out there, they're all crazy but some of the nicest people I've ever met in my whole life. And the drivers are AMAZING, they get to know you by name.
oh yea for sure, we're tight like that, he was one of the first people i saw when i was back on campus. such a rad dude, for sure.
ummmm so i need a ride to the mtn tmrw. is anyone going up?? i'll chip in for gas, but i desperately want to go tomorrow and i had i ride, until like 11 am today, then she bailed. ahhh....so if anyones goin, lemme know!
it looks like an elevated freeway offramp thing (basically what the renderings show) with a huge metal contraption that they build it with. the station at seatac is also coming togtether
i would just like to day that running errands blows when you dont have a car. like if i have to take my skis over to freemont i have to take the bus. baaaallllllsssssss.
Light rail from UW would be sick, but its too bad they'll never let it happen. UW bitches about every traffic expansion plan. I would love for 520 to meet up with Pacific, and nobody uses the E1 parking unless there's a game.
