Best skis for a newbie freestyler?

I'm just getting into freestyle skiing and I want to take lessons this year, I also want to buy my own pair of freestyle skis, what would be some good ones for a beginner like me? I'm 6'1, 200 lbs.

its my first year too. i got k2 fujatives and am pretty happy w/ them so far. its only been a few weeks but they're holding up good in the park. dunno about powder though cause it dont exist in indiana

I decided on Head Mojo 80s as my fist ski. A bit stiffer than I expected, but you've got 55 on me. Haven't ridden them yet, so... Worth looking at at least.

Nope, I don't own my own skis. I want to be able to have fun on any part of the piste, I don't plan on doing any back country stuff, I just wanna be able to tear up the half pipe and ride a few rails.

i did try the fujatives on a "black diamond"(blue anywhere else but here) and they were only a small step behind my parabolics turning wise and thats prolly cause the edges are worn from grinding

my second pair freestyle skis were 1080s and i loved them so much (the like light green ones) there perfect they're way light and stick to rails like glue

I don't care about performance when doing downhill skiing, I'm just there to have fun. I also want the skis that provide the easiest landing off jumps possible.

I found out after 5 weeks of shopping around that there are a million different all-mountain skis. You'll just have to do what I did and go to the store and bend em, stand on em, and ask a million questions. Then there's bindings, boots and poles.
The people here give excellent advice, but you really do have to touch them to know for sure.

well if you dont care about performance going down hill then fujis are fine and as far as jumps go they've been pretty easy on the landings

fujatives.
i switched from skiboards to public enemies 3 years ago, and wish now that i would have waited the extra week to get the fujatives.
the public enemy is sweet, but softer skis seem like they would be more fun, although that stiffness comes in handy sometimes.

How are the new K2 Silencers for an all around mountain/park ski? They are only 229 at my local ski shop and I like the graphics.

the silencers arnt that great all mountain cause there to sciny and flexy, not that great for the park ether, there not a great ski.

Fujatives are gonna be too soft for your size id get the chronics or silencers or something around those lines

i would reccomend fischer addicts for sure. great all mountain and in park and they are long enough and stiff enough for yur size and weight. pe's would prolly be decent too.

Haha, I agree with you man, but my main goal is to get good in the halfpipe, so I was asking some good skis to learn on.

How are last years Fujatives? And do I want a ski longer than 175+ cm? And where do I want my bindings mounted?

I want to be great at the park too, nothing is more exciting than taking off a huge jump and landing it, my rail riding is limited in experience but I find that alot of fun also.

you're 6'1 160 w/ 171s!? hmm.. I'm not going to flame anybody for ski heights b/c I don't care... but you don't have a problem w/ those doing all mountain and faster stuff? I'm 6'0 155 and have 182s and wouldn't dream of going w/ anything shorter than that if I planned on taking them all mtn...

Look at last years twin tips at your local shops
scratches, 1080's, Fujatives, or silencers would all be great.
You are about the same weight as me but a little taller so I would suggest going with a ski in the 180ish range, I started on and am still riding 180cm AR5's and love 'em. Good luck getting good at halfpipe in your first year, today was my 11th or so day of skiing and I'm just getting 180's down, still have yet to slide a box well though.
