anyone as weird as me?

dude, when im about to do a new trick for the first time i stand at the top of the inrun for like at least 15 minutes and try not to get freaked out. also i repeat stuff like 'fear is the mind killer' and 'what one man can do, another can do'
how do you cope with trying new shit on skis?

i dotn know but i'm the exact same way dude, and the more you stand the more freaked out you get. and then whe you finally do it you get some crazy adrenaline rush where you almost fall over cuz your knees are so weak...well maybe that's just me.

thats the same way with me, what happens is i'll get more and more scared and then at one point itll all go away and if i miss that point then i gotta wait and try it on another run

i used to be like that. but then i realized taht the longer you wait, the longer you have to think about all the bad things that could happen if you fuck up, and that will always psyche you out.
so i jsut decided to visualize it on the chair ride up, think about how the rotation is gonna make you feel in the air for a couple seconds at the top of the in-run. then at that point i just yell 'next' and go for it.

bottom line is that if you psyche yourself out, theres no way youre gonna land the new trick. you have to think that youre gonna stomp it first try. you might not get it first try, but thats the mentality that you gotta have

Definitely man, I get crazy butterflies in my stomach and the longer I wait the more freaked out I get. Just try and go as quickly as possible because the longer you wait the more you start to doubt yourself and if you think you're going to fall you already have. When you actually try the trick you'll just sort of go through the motions and then bail just like you expected to. Visualize the trick a lot when you're not on skis so you know exactly what you need to do and once you're on the hill just go for it.

I never go the park with a specific aim. But on my first time i landed a 7. That day i had a great day on my 5's and 3's.
And after and particlary good 5 i decided on the lift the next one was gonna be a 7.
so all the way up i was real nervous almost sick. but buy the time i was at the top of the kicker i was mentally prepared and went through my usual preperations and went for it.
I landed it rather badly but the rush was quite insane. That why i love skiing.

here is what i do. look at the jump as i ride up the tbar. call it a piece of shit in my head. then i dont even stop i just go straight to the jump. i go off the jump, do my new trick, call the jump a pussy again, go back up the tbar and do it again and again.

-Jonny, skiing the ice so the other half of the country doesn't have to.

in amsterdam everything is legal, its the ultimate freedom. you don't have the constant worry of where am i going to get dope tonight, or how am i going to get some pussy. but after a short short time the dutch no longer excersize their freedoms to do drugs. they stop and become more of their existing peaceful neighbors. drugs are just a phase, and sex is a natural thing. why punish for it? -J

its all about convincing yourself that you can do it. if you havn't convinced yourself, then you will puss out and go either straight air or a smaller trick. once I land something that felt really nice, is when I will go for something new. it is a psychological battle with yourself the whole way. once you beat yourself you've won.

first i just say, 'ok, i'm goin for it.' then i just head down the inrun. and then that little voice in the back of my head kicks in and says 'maybe we shouldn't be doing this,' but i learned to block that out so i don't hear that at all, then just go for it. learn to block out your conciousness

fer me its all about getting the feeling right.

if i feel like shit on the run in its a bail time, just go over try somethign you know yer gonna nail.
but this year was sick for me, i learned alot of new stuff and conquered some hits that i didn't do last year. its all about surrounding yerself with a positive crowd whos gonna push you, and in turn you'll push yourself.
know yourself, beat yourself.

filming too, you get in front of a camera, and oyu just go, its like a magic wand sometimes, you know just like i gotta nail this, and you do it.
just maintain a positive attitude and work with yer mind so you can nail it.
