I know this was kinda mentioned in that other thread, but I am going to Alta and wondered if people always hit it and if they get ticked about u just watching-not hitting-watching. cuz i kinda wanna take some pics u know for the folks at home....unless i would get beat up by the locals. are they touchy about people watching people hit it like they are with people Hitting it?

its good to know that somebody can ask a question because they might not know everything about skiing and get such honest straight forward answers. The jump is in the backcountry which means you have to build it yourself or hit it with a crew who is already building it. In general, backcountry protocol says if you didn't help shovel, you don't get to jump, and yes I'm sure a pro crew who is there to film and wants to maintain a good landing would be upset if you tried to start hitting it, but if you show up, no one's around, and the jump is there go for it. Otherwise, if you show up and someone is building it, offer to lend a hand, and you will probably be rewarded with a chance to session.
If you just want to watch, I've never seen anyone hitting a jump in Grizzly Gulch that didn't want an audience ;)
Hopefully that clears that up.
