I've it written many places that THC is actually one of the few chemicals on earth that you can't 'od' on. That's not to say that other shit couldn't get into pot and kill you, but I don't think you could make THC strong enough to kill you on it's own.

I think you're right on THC, but you'er not simply smoking THC. I am not quite sure what it is that causes long time smokers to become identifiable, but I know a couple of lifelong smokers who you can tell it on. Occasional head twitch, that specific stare, much slower reflexes, short attention span. And that's before they go out into the backyard haha

I went to a lecture on marijuana this semester and learned a great deal about the plant.
In order to answer your question, you have to understand why the drug does what it does. Here's a theory that has a lot of evidence. (Unfortunately the lecture doesn't have any online sources i can point you guys too)
As many of you know, evolution is how we have gotten the world today. Everything around you thats not man-made is a product of millions of years of changes. Now if you look at the marijuana plant and ask "Why does that make a human being high?", you start to see some answers.
Mammals may have evolved right along side cannabis. So its theorized that THC is one of the plant's defenses. When you get high, don't you usually forget practically everything during that one hour when you're baked? Well thats what the plant wants to happen. The higher THC content in the bud (such as a verrrrry dank %25 thc bud), the higher you'll be and the more you'll forget.
Now how does this qualify as a "defense". Well if you're an early human or some other animal that can be effected by THC, such as a cat, you'll forget where you found that plant. And alongside with its other traits of being a fast growing, strong and widespread plant, it means that a plant who's been damaged by a predator will have a better chance of survival.
So buds may be 50% THC someday, but its not a drug that is designed to poison, its merely an intoxicating plant that wants to be eaten (to spread seed through dung droppings), but does not want to be eaten to the point of extinction.
Alright i think i explained that similarly to what the professor said. Don't flame me on this, i just thought it was a cool explanation that made sense to me.
