Pro skiing career much shorter than pro snowboard career

i noticed that pros like tanner who is like 24 now i think and this is his last season competing just kind of average ending their real careers in their early-mid twenties where snowboard pros stay going until late 20s and even early 30s. mikey leblanc is 33 and still does comps and video parts and shreds urban, and jussi oksanen and heikki sorsa are 29 and absolutely shred, like totally on top of their game for at least a couple more seasons. am i just overlooking a lot of pro skiers or is this the case? i dont think injuries are really a factor because it seems like they both get injured the same frequency.

kind of a vauge statement....

its not like snowboarders dont get knee injuries. and what do you mean 'skiing'? like park skiing, skiing down a trail, mogul skiing (yes), backcountry skiing. that doesnt make any sense. theres nothing about skiing that im aware of that makes it harder on your knees. feel free to prove me wrong.

o yea i forgot about that hahaha but like i meant other pros any way kind of lose their career around his age... also its not like the ankle thing really seemed to stop him.

i think that if you look at who is skiing in the park you might be right. however, guys skiing more big mountain stuff like all the TGR movies are older. on the side whatever happened to shawn palmer?

snowboarding is just way bigger, so if there's 5 guys over 30 in skiing that are still in the top echelon of pros, then there's 25 in snowboarding, or whatever i just made those numbers up. but you get the idea.

dude, your analysis was simply terrible. you have a real east coast backyard jibber point of view, so congrats on being totally out of touch. here's the real deal...

jp auclair is absolutely on the top of his game. his best two video sections have come this year and last year, and he kills all aspects of skiing as hard as everybody, save maybe tanner. jp is the consummate pro skier. respect.

mike douglas taught all the yung'uns a lesson last season by taking the K2 back 9. in addition to schooling the new(er) wave of top all around skiers, he finds time to carry this sport on his shoulders on the business and media sides. respect.

shane mcconkey absolutely shreds, despite like, 10 season ending injuries. his longevity is remarkable. respect.

seth morrison. respect.

julien regnier apparently skied this huge gnarly log jib covered in snow, to 30 foot drop on blackcomb this year. i skied beside it, and wow. his pow shredding has gotten better and better each year, and i find it super exciting to watch julien simply ski. respect.

Seems to me a lot more skiers get struck out in their prime by injury than boarders...when a skier goes down for 2 years or so they just seem to disappear from sight...eg. Evan Raps, Dave Crichton, Phil Belanger (gone from comps and mags, only stays in vids because he owns the company). Those guys were on top of the freeski world 3 years ago now they've vanished...that rarely happens to boarders. I think it's due, as someone mentioned above, to the fickle nature of our sport, always looking for the next phenom. Prob because most skiers (except seth, mcconky, etc) seem to have less of a "brand name" than boarders.

Think about this freesking well "park skiing" hasnt been around as long as snowboarding so I think in the future the pros who are around 20 something now will stick around untill they are in their 30's if thier bodies allow. just my opinion

snowboarding has been around for a lot longer than newschool skiing.so theres more snwboarders who started out younger that are now in their thirties than skiers, because its only been around for about 9 years

i have a question.
are skiers dropping 250 foot cliffs? NO skiers are skiing toward 250 foot cliffs and dropping them with skis on, but its not any different than dropping 250 foot cliffs in hiking boots.
