BENDING Px12 BRAKES!!!

So i tried searchbar and also went on Tgr, but i could not find the Forum on Tgr. Was wondering if you guys could give me a link or if you have any good ideas for me, id appreciate that as well. They are the px12 lifters straight from SAC. Im only bending em to fit a 86 mm waist (chronic wide) thanks!

My px12 only fit an 80mm waist..but i had to bend a little to fit my t-halls...which are an 80 waist...I just pulled on them very hard...

Get the shop to do it, it saves time, especially if you don't do it that often. However, if you DO do it that often, what you need is a vice, the top half of an old ski pole, and a torch (not really necessary, but some people think it is). You put the brake in the vice, put the (hollow) pole around the brake foot and use it as a lever to make one side of it straight. Then move it in about 5mm on the vice (measure) and bend it down again. Heat makes it easier to bend. Then repeat for the other side. 5mm on each side will actually give you a bit more than 10mm extra clearance because of the bend. And for future reference, the TGR forum url is

i put the same bindings on skis with a 90 waist.. a shop bent them for me and they work fine.

Ya its just i dont want to screw up the brakes...and my shop wont bend em, its against their policy, which i think is total bullshit...but i think im just gunna heat em and bend em that way

The way JD described is right, but you can do it just as easily by just clamping a boot the binding then straightening and rebending the brake with a pole or pipe over it. I've read about people using heat but I never have used heat and had no problems - I've been told the metal could crack easier with heat. But why not just ask your shop to do it? You're getting them mounted anyway, right? Even better, ask them to put on some wide brakes insted, they might swap them for free.

The post right above yours explained why he didn't ask his shop to do it, it is against their policy. And they will not swap the brakes, they charge $40 for them, which is why he needs some advice on just bending them.

Yeah. "Against their policy"? Sounds like they're scared of braking them or just don't know shit. Either way, I wouldn't trust them to mount my bindings.

yea the whole against their policy thing is totalt bullshit. It sounds like they dont know how so they dont want to risk it. If they can do something simple like bending brakes then how will they handle something complicated like a major base repair. (its not THAT complicated but still way harder then bending brakes)

I have been to three ski shops for the same problem to mount my ar6s so I just oredered the wide brakes no one wanted to bend them I could myself but w/e I just ordered the wide brakes for 40 bucks
