im sorry, but i just can't see burton making skis after having such a large name in the snowboarding industry.
Your bias clouds your judgement about Armada. While they make sick product, it is by no means revolutionary. The ARG resembles the Spatula in many ways (rocker, dimentions), and the Spatula has been out for several years. The idea of a floppy buttery park ski like the THall has been out since the creation of the Fujative. The changing of cores and different stringers has been out for several years now as well, appearing in the 1260 from Line at least 3 years ago. Armada may make great skis, but they are not revolutionary.
If you want to talk revolutionary, look at the Magnetraction skis being put out by Lib-Tech, a snowboard company. Do you see this tech anywhere else in the industry? No. If it is as good as some of the reports I have heard, then other companies will copy it in the future.
Much like when Rossi bought Look and went into the binding market, if Burton enters the ski arena they will probably buy a ski company to have some idea of what they are doing. This would be no different.
At the top levels, the massive "ski" companies do not care about skiing, they care about money. This same mentality is probably the case at Burton. I find it rediculous that many otherwise sane people on this site defend companies that do not care about them, but then turn around and find it abhorrent to have one more company that does not care about them in the market. If you will not change your opinion in the face of new information or a correct and coherent argument, you are a fool.

I know that the first years AR5 had a carbon stringer in the tail, but I do not know about the later years.
