i am just starting to freeski this year and im lookin for a 50% park and 50% mountain twin i narrowed it down to the fujas and the silencers theyre both inexpensive and that is the price range i have to stay around hit me up wit any suggestions or thoughts
The fujatives are basically a park specific ski, not great for much more than 20% out of the park. The silencer is a slimmed down, capped PE. Its made to perform in and out of the park, minus the deep pow. Its stiffer than the fujatives, more like the PE, so it will be a better ski to take out of the park. Also, if you've skied before the silencers will be more like a regular all mountain ski.
fujatives suck everywhere but park. they are literally just planks. i weigh 114 pounds and they are even too soft for me. just a rediculous noodle of a ski. the camber was gone 5 days into the season. ive gone up about 11 or 12 times now and the ski is completely flat, maybe even a bit reverse camber. they actually work ok in pow if its fresh, but yesterday when i was dropping some cliffs and then riding out over some chopped up stuff, i barely could control what i was doing the skis were bouncing around so much and i was being thrown back onto my tails time and time again. i don't know about silencers, but i do know that next year im going to go with some skis that are more versatile.
how all are you...adult skis are designed to begin to be carved at 115 lbs. I bet they were flapping around because you were leaning back and not pressuring the tips. and even i you were trying to pressure the tips, 114 lbs is pretty light to handle any adult ski.
you make the fujis sound so bad?!?! one of the greatest skis. i ski about 60% park, 40% all mountain, and i love my fujis. they handle great out of the park, and in EC pow, i find they handle well. not trying to bash, but if you were being thrown around, i dont can't say too much about your skills.
Go for the Silencer, the Fujitives are amazing skis but they seem to be getting old and a lot of people ride the Fujis. The Silencers and Fujitives have about equal feeling in park and mountain. Alittle tip; If you get the Fujitives centre mount them. Although to be honest with you, go for the Silencers, its got the K2 name, the look is very appealing and its just an all-round ski.
I have a pair of fujitives and I mounted em pretty far back and I have to say they are pretty good. Since theyre mounted at recommended they work well outside of the park and inside the park thanks to the sweet flex. One problem is that they are a bit shaky when going switch but thats prolly because i mounted pretty far back. They are probably better in pow than the silencers because they are a little fatter and have a softer flex.
i have PE's..and i love them in and out of the park..they are a lil heavy for park but u get use to it. my friend was pretty much in the same boat as you and i told him to get silencers caus they are like the lil bro to the PE's..and he loves them..he's just getting into park skiing so its a good split
