so im getting a new nikon digital SLR camera. and i cant decide weather to get the new 2006 d80 or the d200 from 05'. both are 10.2 megs. the d200 has a few more options but the d80 is lighter and i travel alot. cost is not an issue.
Both cameras will do you good, go to a camera store, hold both of them with the lens or lenses your going to get and decide for yourself. You're getting the same sensor on each cam, the D200 is more geared towards a "Prosumer" audience the D80 a "consumer" audience. D200 has 4 modes, full auto, shutter priority, aperture priority and manual. D80 has a those and a bunch of programs like low light, sports, landscape, etc. D200 is going to be heavier as just the body, if that's a big concern get the 80 and be happy. You can't go wrong no matter what you choose. Seriously though, best way to decide is to go to a store and see them both, don't listen to the internet to make your camera decision for you.
well they are both full DSLR's the D80 has more megapixles so if you want to blow your images up into full-size posters get it, I also think the D 80 can do 5 frames a sec. (not sure so check) while the D 50 can only do 2.5 which is good for rails but not quite enough for jumps. but yea hold them at the shop, and if you are buying them for a chain store they will come with a lense, and the lenses are different.
no no no... im not even looking at the d50. i am most likely going to get the d80. and im only buying a body, i have about 10 very nice lenses from my nikon N60 and older N2000
i would get the d200. the d80 in my opinion feels like a toy. it is just too much money for a plastic camera imo. I am sure it is a fantastic camera, but i like the construction of the d200. also the d200 is really balanced with my nikkor 18-200vr.
I would go with the D200. The new Nikon's (D40,D80) Aren't great at all, especially the d40 that you can only use a certain type of lense with...idn if that goes with the d80 to tho.
