well its finally gettin cold overnight tonight. so im gonna try to take the snowmaker out back and make some snow. if i can get enough snow im thinkin about settin up a rail i got in the backyard. its an old skateboard rail about 8 feet long that my neighbors gave me when the where doin some cleaning last spring. it hasnt been ridden by anything ni a while and is a little rusty. What should i do to it before riding it? do i wax it with an iron like i do with my skis?
well, ive had two rails in the past three days that were mad rusty and had old paint. i sanded them using a metal file and an electric sander and got the rails to sparkle. it is quite tiring though. maybe get it sandblasted? and if you paint the rail after its sanded and clean, it gets evem more slippery
fuck no. buy the cheap box of wax from a drug strore and just rub it on. Heat would do nothing for soaking the wax into metal.
On the note of sanding them, if you do it will expose the steel again, and it will just rust faster and deeper. Just sand the top a little(not till its shiny) and rub on wax if its sticky.
